We discover that we're still learning something new about each other in each episode… although it's possible we already knew that we're both obsessed with excellence! Sue's been out of her comfort zone, two-timing Sherry and guesting on another Podcast to preview the US Open Tennis Grand Slam with two other tennis writers.
Sherry not only confesses her not-so-secret passion for collecting sea shells, but also reveals she has a bit of a thing for planes! Or is it rockets, Sherry?! (01.32 – 07.12)
This week we consider the importance of team purpose. Whether you're a freelancer creating a team to deliver on your behalf, or a line manager/project manager in a large organisation who needs your team to deliver on your personal or organisational objectives, having a common purpose is critical to achieving success.
We explore some of the tensions and dilemmas inherent in bringing a team of experts together, as well as the benefits and opportunities of working with a great team. We also examine the difference between setting expectations and creating agreements with the team (see Shift Your Mind: Shift The World chapter 42). If you don't know the difference between 'list' and 'story' people in your team, you'll definitely want to tune in to this section! (07.13 – 39.15)
As we keep saying, momentum is critical in getting past the Tipping Point! Sue has been clearing the decks, letting go of anything unnecessary in order to release space for new opportunities as she launches her new leadership development programme… and the universe has responded in its own, inimitable, way!
Sherry is taking some time out for R&R over the holiday season, but is also looking ahead to her autumn schedule and the launch of her LinkedIn Challenge in September, as well as her Career Confidence Masterclass which takes place in the autumn. (39.16 – 46.07)
Sue's new programme is shaping up in an unexpected range of directions, with every discussion she has, and she's really excited by the unfolding possibilities. Sherry has been inspired by a meeting with Tough Love' a new start-up specifically focussed on helping companies to develop their Customer Service. (46.08 – 51.15) What else or what next?
Sue recommends 'Shift Your Mind: Shift The World' by Steve Chandler, a guide to becoming fearless and achieving fulfilment. Sherry reflects on the earlier discussion, celebrates our differences and concludes "I'm just going to be me". Wouldn't want it any other way! (51.16 – 52.35)

We've both been out and about! Sue's been exercising the freedom of choice that business leaders sometimes forget we have and Sherry's been blackberry picking for muffins! Was she really the mad woman her children dread her becoming? (01.28 – 04.28)
This week we mull over the power of language in creating success. Are We What We Say?, asks The Guardian. With at least 50,000 thoughts going through our minds each day, which thoughts do we choose to give significance to? Once we recognise the power that our thoughts, and how we express them in the language we use, have upon our performance, it's easy to see the importance of choosing words that are able to create a positive state within us, so that we are capable of not only seeing possibility but also taking positive action. We explore some examples and share our experience of working with clients (and our own mental monkeys!) to notice what is and isn't useful to achieving the success we aspire to. (04.29 – 29.28)
Momentum is critical in getting past the Tipping Point! Sue is taking every opportunity to discuss and fine tune her new leadership development programme 'The Unstoppable Leader' and is thrilled at the response so far. Sherry is launching a new networking programme 'City Conversations' for women in the City who are looking to create connections, share conversations and experience the power of coaching! (29.29 – 35.36)
Sue's been watching the World Athletic Championships and has been mesmerised watching excellence in MO-tion! Sherry's been dealing with 'anger issues', diagnosed by a listener in Episode 2 – great work Lindsey Baxter! (35.37 – 40.31)
Sue recommends 'Words That Change Minds' by Shelle Rose Charvet, for anyone who wants to look at the power of words and language a little more closely. Sherry's been surprised to find her own book on display in a resource area as a recommended read. (40.32 – 42.48)
Mentioned on the show and other useful links Today we mentioned a recent Guardian article on language.
We also talked about a number of books:

In the show this week
Sue's been helping business owners to find their inner super hero (no small ask at Breakfast time!) and Sherry's been checking out where her LinkedIn clients are hiding their lights under bushels! (01.25 – 08.44)
This week we chew over an issue commonly faced by senior leaders in organisations, entrepreneurs and small business owners alike…. isolation and loneliness in leadership. There's no doubt that leadership can be lonely, and it's important to have strategies in place to keep you on track, to help you connect & communicate with those around you (and yourself!), and to ensure you stay fully aligned with your purpose – the big Why that led you to this leadership opportunity. We explore some of those strategies and share our own experience of what we've learned so far in our own leadership journeys. (08.45 – 28.50)
Momentum is critical in getting past the Tipping Point! Sue's been grasping opportunities with both hands, not just speaking but also accepting an invitation to talk about Team Building on BBC radio. Sherry gets really honest about an area that's not gathering momentum….. yet, which prompts a quick discussion on the importance of chunk size in getting things going! (28.55 – 35.05)
Sue introduces us to her six year old neighbour who knows how to ask for what he wants – with a clarity that can be very helpful to us in business. Sherry's been inspired and deeply moved by the work of Helen Bennett, who helps teenagers to build self confidence and self esteem through creating the opportunity for them to have dinner and discussion with local business leaders. Inspirational! (35.10 – 40.30)
Sue notices that our discussion has prompted her to give some thought to how she adds even more 'wow' to her work with clients, and Sherry is looking forward to achieving the right level of balance between family and business during the holidays. (40.32 – 42.50)

IN THE SHOW ...
Where or how have you felt most alive this week? Sue's discovered she's not ready to die, courtesy of a disagreement with the Sat Nav on a random mountain, and Sherry has been back in the Big Smoke, talking resilience and leadership in business with other business owners. (01.20 – 08.55)
How have you been challenged?
Sherry has noticed that Imposter Syndrome is factoring regularly in discussions with clients – it's an oldie and a goodie!
We explore the links to acceptance and validation from ourselves and other people, and we chew over some of the differences in how men and women articulate concerns about self confidence & self worth.
There are some cracking examples of the impact of feedback on our personal performance too! (08.55 – 29.40)
So where are you building momentum right now? The magic M word that takes us beyond the tipping point! Sue's going to be 'zapping' people at a speaking event, addressing "How to be Unstoppable". She only has 4.30 minutes to speak and she's going experiential! Sherry gets serious about creating her own TV show… watch for your invite to join her on her new sofa! (29.50 – 34.25)
How have you been inspired this week?
Sue has been inspired by a TED talk on starting a Movement and she's inspired Sherry to be the Lone Nut! Sherry introduces us to Storm in a D Cup, the story of the extraordinary life behind Rigby & Peller (34.30 – 40.05)
What else or what next?

IN THE SHOW
Sue's been challenged to make a stand for who she is, and Sherry has been inspired by history and promise in the captivating streets of London. (00.56 – 08.40)
Sue questions something that is common for her clients, and increasingly the subject of social media discussions too. How do we help people to deal with overwhelm? Whether it's bombardment with information, swimming in our own thoughts and emotions, or the dastardly to-do list, it's easy to feel paralysed unless we have some strategies in place to keep moving. We've been there too and share some of the things we have found helpful. (08.40 – 25.12)
The magic M word that takes us beyond the tipping point! Sherry gets passionate about her research into diversity in law and the importance of creating great connections, and Sue is taking her work on helping people to discover their 'zone of genius' to a new level. (25.12 – 30.25)
We'll be honest. We spent so long staying out of overwhelm that we completely forgot to share our inspiration in this episode! We're leaving the question here for you though, because it's an important part of getting past and staying past the tipping point!Do give it some thought before next time.
In a final moment of reflection, we share what we noticed during the show. Sue will be topping up her collection of post-it notes, and Sherry is planning on keeping things simple. (30.25 – 31.52)
