The on again off again conversation about whether or not the Cleveland Browns would keep four quarterbacks died when the Browns traded Kenny Pickett to the Las Vegas Raiders. Pickett missed almost all of camp and never really got to compete and allowed rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders to impress the staff. The first 53 man roster is out and there are some minor surprises that will almost certainly have moves to clarify them by end of league day on Wednesday.

The Cleveland browns surprised many during training camp and the preseason playing better than most people felt the team was going to look. Joe Flacco ran away and hid as the starter as all the other quarterbacks dealt with some missed time due to injuries. Dillon Gabriel closed out preseason strong and could seriously be viewed as the teams back-up as opposed the the number three or four quarterback. The running game, a Kevin Stefanski staple is a complete unknown to this point. Jim Schwartz's defense looks to be a lot more on par with the '23 team than the '24 team.

The Cleveland Browns and head coach Kevin Stefanski can use all the catchy cliches they want, no one is in agreement with them that Dillon Gabriel is the better rookie quarterback at this point. There's no doubting that Joe Flacco should be the starter but if something were to happen to him it feels the best guy will not be next in line.
