  • Podcast #272 – Ordinary Marathoner, Aug 28, 2019

I’m back to training. We got a really good 7-mile run in on Saturday. Pushing Ellie in the stroller for 7-miles has to make it count for more though, right? I’m assigning a 1.5:1 stroller-to-no-stroller ratio on my runs, and giving myself credit for 10.5 miles instead.

We then hit up the beach in Old Orchard, Maine, to support our friends Joe and Jim who were competing in Ironman Maine 70.3. What a great race! I’m not sure I’ll be in line to participate anytime soon, but a great race nonetheless!

Lastly, I want to talk a little bit about this Andrew Luck thing… Indulge me for a moment.

  • Podcast #273 – Danielle Rosvally

“You are an Ironman!” There’s something special about hearing those words come out of Mike Reilly’s mouth. At many points during her race, Danielle Rosvally wasn’t sure she was going to hear them. There were the hills on Duplessis, the bike cutoff, the unforeseen challenges on the run, and the troubling lack of Goldfish. All of this didn’t deter her from doing one thing – keep moving forward.

And move forward she did, despite Ironman’s tracker system predicting a finish over 15-minutes past midnight. At some point, with angels at her back (quite literally) she dug deep and decided to find out what she was made of, which resulted in quite an incredible story. Danielle shares the details of this story… on this week’s podcast.

  • Podcast #271 – Ordinary Marathoner, August 23, 2019

Marathon season is upon us which means it’s put-up or shut-up time. Now is the time where we either look at our training and be content that we are on-track, or perhaps it’s time to start panicking if you’re having some trouble or have been in a rut. We’ve all been there. What are the strategies you use to dig yourself out of a rut? I’ll lay out some of mine and see if you can’t come up with some better ones.

  • Podcast #269 – Grace & Dean Lindell

Grace Lindell is not your ordinary 19 year-old. She has been heading to Lake Placid almost every summer, often times to watch her father Dean compete in the Ironman. It was only a matter of time before she tried her hand at one herself. This year, that’s just what she did. And boy did she do it in a big way. Not only did Grace complete the Ironman, but she came in third place in the 18-24 age group!

Grace became well known amongst the Ironman competitors that weekend when her family and friends went out and chalked up just about every hill in Lake Placid with encouraging messages for their favorite Ironman. We had the great opportunity to sit down with Grace and her father Dean in-studio and talk about… well, just about everything.

  • Podcast #270 – A Great Racing Weekend – August 20, 2019

What a crazy weekend! Sunday was crazy! We had runners hitting the pavement in the heat of Falmouth, MA. We were tracking a number of competitors at Ironman Mont-Tremblant. There was no shortage of drama there, thanks to Danielle Rosvally. We recorded an in-studio podcast with Grace Lindell and her father Dean, which will be released later today!

Indeed an incredible weekend, but I wanted to take some time to make sure that the podcast wasn’t getting a little too much away from its’ core roots. We’ve been very Ironman-centric lately. But there’s way more to this group than that. We’ve all started somewhere at some point, and the beauty of running is that if you put the time and focus in… you get better! We have a great balance of people here, an encouraging support system and environment. Whatever point you are in your running, even if you haven’t started yet, we invite you to join us for the ride and wish you great success!
