  • 268 - TSP - The Scuttlebutt
I love getting to talk with other Veteran Podcasts Hosts. We are truly a niche podcast genre.
U.S. Navy Veteran Officer Richard Fleek and Marine Corps Veteran Andrew Farrer teamed up to create TSP - The Scuttlebutt. This collaboration is all about telling Veterans' stories at a personal level with no filters.
TSP - The Scuttlebutt recently supported the Dogs of War Foundation's 1st Annual Salute Shoot. There they talked to several Veterans and Uncle Sai from Duck Dynasty.
Talking with Richard and Andrew, I understood that their podcast was more than just doing a show. They want to combine their podcast with other Veterans Outreach they do through organizations like the VFW and Marine Corps League.
A show like TSP- The Scuttlebutt shows that one can take a podcast and not only tell a great story but use it to support causes and events in a way that few people do.
Thank you, gentlemen, for coming on to talk with me. I am looking forward to listening to what you all do in the future.
You can listen to TSP - The Scuttlebutt anywhere podcasts are hosted. Check out their Facebook page and be sure to like and follow - https://www.facebook.com/TSPTheScuttlebutt

  • 267 - Charles Wolf - SemperToons
I want to start by thanking Andrew Farrer for the introduction to Charles Wolf who is the creator of Semper Toons.
Our conversation shows how someone in the Military can take something they love doing and use it to make lives better.
The feeling was Gunny gets more out of doing SemperToons than the people who read his comics. It just goes to show that if you stick with something that anyone can have an impact on someone's life. SemperToons has done that with Mail Call where you can donate $17.75 (Get it 😉 ) to provide a smile for a Marine Recruit and their family.
I can't wait to see with Gunny does next. I treasure these conversations and love that service doesn't end when we End Active Service. Go to www.sempertoons.com to learn more

  • 265 - Rucking for Veterans
I met US Army Veteran Jason Ray through Alayna Madden (https://oscarmikeradio.com/257-semper-fi-designs/).
Alayna told me Jason is putting on an 11 and 22 mile Ruck on Veterans Day. I thought that was a good way to celebrate our day and we got time to talk.
Jason served in the U.S. Army and after getting out searched for something to help him and others with the transition. He found that rucking (or humping in the Marine Corps) helped him in a way that prompted him to start Rucking for Veterans.
Rucking for Veterans is focused on taking action to advocate for Veterans in the South Shore area of Massachusetts. Jason and his wife Genevieve were able to impact lives last year, and this year's Ruck is looking to eclipse that with support for Mission 22 and Wild Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Program.
The 2nd Annual Veterans Day 22 Mile Ruck starts at 7:00 AM on November 11th, 2021 at The Pour Farm Tavern located at 780 Purchase St. New Bedford, MA. There is still time to get involved. Go to https://ruckingforveterans.com/events/ to learn more or donate.
Thanks, Jason for talking with me!

  • 264 - Indigenous Veterans of Turtle Island Monument
I had the honor to talk with Native Americans Loren Spears, Narragansett Tribal Nation and Charlie Smith Jr, Seaconke Wampanoag Tribal Nation about the Indigenous Veterans Monument being built at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in Exeter, Rhode Island.
As I said at the start of the conversation, doing Oscar Mike Radio just shows me how much I don't know. I served with a couple of Native Americans, but will confess that there is a lot for me to learn about many aspects of the Native American culture.
At the conclusion of our talk, it became clear that having monument must happen. I went the the website and looked at the committee page. There was story after story of a family member's or personal service to our country that was the reason for wanting to build this monument. The goals is $50,000.00 and the group has raised over half that amount.
Go to https://www.honoringindigenousvets.org/home to learn more or donate. I also have shirts for sale($25.00 - Free Shipping). If you buy a shirt between now and December 1st, I will put you in a drawing for the Oscar Mike Radio Supply Drop.
Thank you Loren and Charlie for talking with me about this worthy cause. I can't wait to see this come together. I have to give a shout out to Marine Corps Veteran Armand Perreault and Army Veteran Briana Auclair for helping me do this. It was complete team effort!

  • 262 - Move
I got hurt on June 26, 2021. One of the ways I wanted to help recovery was to lose some weight and dial in my nutrition. I wanted to share my experience so far being on the VA's MOVE Program. https://www.move.va.gov/MOVE/index.asp
I will show my progress as a % difference in shows for the next four months. If you are a Veteran you can get some good info there. Mission is in Flight.

  • 261 - We Got Your Six
I talked with actors Danny Zanelotti and Greg Washington, and singer Emma Gutierrez about a film they created called, "We Got Your Six". This film is entered into the 2021 Prizefest. You can go to https://prizefest.com/tickets/ and if you are like me and can't make it to Shreveport, you can browse down to "Film Prize (Online Screenings) watch "We Got Your Six" and Vote! This would be a great way to support these Military Veteran Actors and Filmmakers.
Danny and Greg are military Veterans who have experienced first hand the effects of PTSD has on those who served. They wanted to make something that would connect with civilians, Active Duty Service Members, and Veterans alike.
Listening to Emma describe what is was like to lend her voice to support the film shows that we can't judge younger people based on their age. There is a real desire in our youth to lean more and support those who are serving and have served.
A ticket to the Film Prize is $30.00 which allows you to watch all the films, or you can get a VIP Pass for $350.00. I will be online watching!

  • 258 - The People's Patriot Project
I met Andrea Eichmann and Mark Petersen at the Bold Patriot Freedom Tour Launch Event with Chris Turner and Pastor Bob Waldrep in April of this year. Both Andrea and Mark had come down from from Minnesota to be a part of the event and they came on the livestream with Danielle Rocco and I to talk about The People's Patriot Project or WeP3. WeP3 is about meeting the Veteran where they are and helping them immediately or getting the Veteran to the right place for assistance. As they have worked in our community, Andrea and Mark have started a radio station for Veteran Artist and do a podcast and weekly livestreams. Their plans for 2022 is to get funding to build out a place to from which they can provide onsite services to Veterans. I really enjoyed getting to hear their story and want to give a big shout to Andrea who is proving that civilians can serve the Military and Veterans even though they haven't served. There is good stuff coming up for WeP3. Check out the links below and thank you both for talking with me.
