This past year was a super interesting experience. I did something that I thought would be at least somewhat challenging, but honestly, it wasn't bad at all. It made a million questions go through my head, some specific to actual drug abuse, and some much broader. 

I do know one thing... If you're someone who has thought about giving a challenge like this a try, I say go for it. I certainly don't see how any bad could come from it!

Also, I'd REALLY love feedback from this episode if possible, perhaps even more so than normal. It'll make more sense once you listen to the episode.

A therapist by trade, Dr. Josh Friedman knew there was something missing relatively early on in his career. There were certain patients that would come into the therapy sessions and/or use the medications prescribed to them by a psychiatrist, but for these individuals, these forms of treatment just didn't seem to work. I've noticed something super interesting over the past two years: My once phobic level fear of flying seems to have virtually disappeared. Resolving that type of mental health problem was never something I even considered doing naturally. However, after a recent experience on a helicopter, it seems almost undeniable that my healing naturally correlates with a lessening of my phobic-level fears. 

I want to hear from others who have dealt with phobias, especially those who have overcome them!

Highly Sensitive Person? No, it's not your friend, family member, or co-worker who is "too emotional." Highly Sensitive People, or HSPs, are people who process things different than the majority of people. They might feel more deeply, require long periods of time to contemplate things, and they can even be more sensitive to things like sounds and large crowds. 

This week, we interview an internet-friend of mine, Melissa Stevens. Melissa went the majority of her life knowing that something was different, but never know what it was! After getting some marketing advice from a business coach, she had her "aha" moment - the moment she realized there was a name for the what she had been experiencing her whole life!

Melissa was an absolute pleasure to talk to, and I learned a lot! Psychology is a field that is forever expanding, and it will be amazing to see how many people will find their comfort in knowing they are in fact an HSP, when perhaps they've been wrongly misdiagnosed with a mental health challenge.

A last-minute editing issue forced me to fly solo tonight, BUT it doesn't mean this episode went to waste... I had been thinking about addressing the coronavirus directly on this podcast, but wasn't sure where to fit it in. Since I didn't make the decision to do it, it looked like circumstances did it for me.

Many people who were already dealing with mental health issues prior to this are experiencing a worsening of symptoms. Many who had NEVER really dealt with much in the world of mental health issues are experiencing them for the first time. This episode is for both parties.

In one of the quickest turnarounds I've ever seen, our guest, Brittany Ohl, used a special kind of testing to dramatically lower levels of inflammation in her body virtually overnight. What is most interesting to me, is that this is a test I've used for YEARS with clients! It's always great to hear success stories from outside sources. ⁣

Brittany's experience with all of this has made such an impression on her that she has now decided to go into the functional healthcare field herself so that she can one day help other's resolve their health challenges. ⁣
