  • The difference between over delivering and overgiving
This episode is about the difference between overdelivering and overgiving. People often get these two things mixed up, they toss them into the same washing cycle, but they are completely different. You are probably familiar with the concept of under-promising and over-delivering. However, from an online business perspective, it isn’t very helpful. We have a hard time putting boundaries around the space and time in our business and our life, and because we have such a hard time putting those boundaries around things when we talk about over-delivering, it becomes too much of an ombre line. There isn’t really a fine black distinctive line between one side and the other.

Let’s talk about a few things:

The concept of under-promising and over-delivering.
When something costs you time it costs you money.
If it’s costing you more than it costs you to acquire a new client, it’s too much.
Just because you have over delivered does not mean to say that you now need to undercharge.
If you can do something quick doesn’t mean you should charge less.
When we’re waiting for clients for something if they don’t deliver that’s on them.
Clients constantly messaging you at all hours of the day and expecting immediate responses.

The difference between over-delivering and over giving is that over-delivering doesn’t cost you anything. In fact, in some cases, it’ll make you money. When you over give, you are drained, because you’re over-giving, there’s nothing left. Overgiving literally drains everything right out of you. It doesn’t feel good to you or your clients. Be mindful of how you’re feeling when you start to wonder if you “should” be overdelivering.

  • Is the hustle lifestyle costing you?
Today’s episode is about hustling and how hustling is costing you. There’s a lot of people out there, gurus or professionals that are telling you to hustle. To work 24 hours a day, sleep for two, there are all kinds of hustle messages out there. I think what’s really important is looking at is the idea of what that is actually costing people. If you are in a constant go-mode, you’re constantly hustling, and you’re working really hard. Let’s face it, there are only some times in your life when that’s actually going to work. I want you to know that you can still succeed. Even though you aren’t in a space where you could hustle all the time. Here is how:

Being present in what you are doing, working, spending time with your family and friends or with yourself.
Set your goals and plan accordingly.
People who hustle for a purpose will actually choose an end in mind goal. They will do all of the things on the list in order to make that happen. You could use the exact same mentality and just lose the hustle.
Work on the things that you really want to work on, delegate the things you don’t, then focus on what you actually want to be doing in your business.
If you are someone who has a family, or a spouse, or ageing parents, or other responsibility, please take time for yourself, for them and take time away from your business.

Not everybody is meant to hustle. Personally, I am not meant to hustle. I take a much smoother approach. By setting my goals and working on the tasks that are going to get me to my end in mind goal, that is how I am able to still accomplish the things I do in my business without hustling because to me, my sleep is important. When I do that, and when I do it consistently and well, I become way happier with my business, and much happier with the outcome, because the outcome itself is driven by being present. So I hope that you begin to question the concept of hustling, and whether or not it is or isn’t for you.

  • Joyce glass – organization in life and inside the business
In this episode we have a special guest; Joyce Glass. Today we are going to talk about the organization in life and inside the business and how using systems to block off your time and plan ahead can help you feel energized rather than stressed and overwhelmed. We’re going over some key points:

    Being naturally organized in life
How her business was a totally different story
How having a business partner helped
    VA – outsourcing
    TAKING A BREAK
    Clickup geek out

Being a heart-centred person and wanting to give to people and wanting to help people is beautiful, it’s not something that we should be ashamed of. We do need to be mindful of how it is affecting us, and how it is probably bringing us down in some ways. That’s where the balance is important. Knowing your priorities each day is what really helps and that’s where ClickUp and Evernote and all these programs really help to be able to know what the priorities are each day.

  • From Burnout to Energized
In this episode, we’re talking about burning out vs feeling energized. There are many times in our business when we are stuck in that overgiver mindset, we are literally burning ourselves out. Think about a log in a fire, for example, it’s only going to burn for so long before it burns out. If it’s not being fed, eventually the fire will die. The same thing applies to your business. If you don’t feed the fire of your business, it’s going to die. It’s sad but it’s true. I want you to think about the difference between burning out and being energized as a business owner.
Here are some signs to watch out for:

You are working hard day after day, and you haven’t been able to switch off inside your business, that’s going to burn you out. If you are constantly working as many hours of the day that you possibly can, you’re desperately trying to get as much possibly squeezed out of every single hour, you’re eating at your desk, you’re not spending time with friends or family. You’re miserable and you’re on the road to burning out.
If you’re constantly trying to prove your worth to your clients and others around you. If you’re constantly in a state of trying to please everybody, you are a people pleaser, an overgiver, constantly trying to make people love you for the things that you know you’re good at, but you just need their acceptance. It’s exhausting.
If you’re ignoring your personal needs, you’re not sleeping properly, you’re not eating properly, you’re not eating healthy you’re not even taking time for your social needs.
If you’re irritated, your emotions are all over the place. Maybe you’re cranky, you’re snappy. It takes a lot of energy out of the person to feel that way.
A lot of times business owners get to a point where things aren’t jamming right. For all kinds of different reasons, sometimes it’s because we built a business we hate. Sometimes we’ve built a business and we’re not making enough money, whatever it is that’s causing you to feel this way. We all go through those periods of time inside the entrepreneurial journey. But if you’re stuck there, and if you’re there a lot, then that is another sign of burnout.

In this episode, I go over some steps you can take to flip from being burned out to being energized in your business, to working in your genius zone and loving the business you built for yourself. You have something valuable to offer otherwise you wouldn’t have thought of creating a business in the first place. So that value is important to other people. Please make sure that you find a way to look after yourself while you’re looking after other people so that you can be an energized business owner too.

  • Find Your Business Focus
In this episode, we’re going to be talking about finding your business focus. There’s a lot of crazy things happening in our world. And honestly, I normally do this at the end of the year, as I’m moving into a new year, but because this year was so crazy, I literally had to start again. Did you feel like your business plan wasn’t working for you in 2020? If you are feeling like that, here are some things that are powerful for you as a business owner to think about and look at, so that you can choose which direction you want your business to head in. When you have laid the groundwork for your business, and you know what your focus is, you’re less likely to be taken off track because you know which direction you’re headed.

Look back at last year and see what worked for you and what didn’t. What were you going to implement? Did you implement it? Did it work? Did it not work?
If you didn’t follow through with a plan for whatever reason, Why not? What was the reason behind why it didn’t come to fruition?
Is it something that you still want to get done this year?
How do you want to feel about those things this year? How do you want to proceed? What are the things that you are going to bring forward? What are the things that you are going to leave behind? What is it that you’re keeping and what are you discarding?
What do you want to feel next year as you are planning it? Do you want more time with your family? Do you want to have more joy in your week? Do you want to have more money? Are you trying to go on a trip? What is it and how do you want it to be incorporated into next year?

I encourage you to find out what your business focus is for the year, find out what it is for your quarter, know what it is you’re going to work for in your month. From there you can then plan your week, taking the actions that you need to take in order to make that month happen. When you do that, your months will turn into quarters, your quarters will turn into years, you will actually accomplish the things that you want to accomplish for your business.

  • Tanya Saunders – how to connect to our selves and our bodies.
In this episode, we have Tanya Saunders, a Nurse Anesthetist, Podcaster, and certified Pause Breathwork Facilitator. She guides you through conscious breath patterns to remove stuck emotions in your body that keep you blocked and from living in your authentic flow. Tanya lives in Arlington, VA with her husband, 3 kids, and 2 dogs. She uses her ambition, passion, and intuition to craft every breathwork experience.
Today she shares with us some of her insights and experiences and tells us a little more about breathwork exercises and how it can help us connect to our selves and our bodies.
When you are talking about the over giver kind of emotions that we experience, it’s usually anxiety, fear, and overwhelm. Once you understand how conscious breath patterns work and you understand how these emotions feel in your body, you will understand that all those emotions that are in your head are not in your body. So what you do is you take a breath to take a step back and get back into your body and get out of your head. And that is how you are able to down-regulate your nervous system and to think more clearly.
95% of us are shallow breathers because we just breathe unconsciously. It’s this world on autopilot. And 95% of us walk around in autopilot because we’re just not conscious of it. So most of us live in this unconscious world. And we have 60,000 thoughts a day and 90% of those are the same. And guess what? 90% are usually negative. So you’re you are constantly reliving, repeating, retelling yourself the same story over and over until you learn how to live consciously. How do you live consciously? You consciously breathe.

  • Cycle of The Overgiver
In this episode of Overgivers anonymous, we are talking about the cycle of the over-giver. When we are in a state of over-giving, we’re letting people step on us and disrespect us. We think that if we could just be nicer or if we could just give more, people who love us more. But in fact, you’ve heard the old adage before, “nice guys finish last”. If you are constantly giving and you’re not being responsible to your own self and to your own needs, then you are putting yourself last and you’re putting your business at risk. Your business won’t succeed if you keep working it like that. You can’t sustain constantly giving without ever learning how to receive either. You will burn out!
Here are some key places where you can see the cycle of the over giver showing up in your business. You might be working a lot of hours and yet you are still not making the money that you thought would be possible while owning your own business. Perhaps you know that you would like to take on more clients, you know other people in your industry who are able to balance more clients, but you just can’t see how they do it. One other way you might see the over giver cycle show up in your business is that you are in a constant state of feast vs famine! One month you are making money and the next you are scrambling to make ends meet.
No matter where you are in this cycle, I encourage you to think about what’s the one thing you can do right now to break that cycle so that you can start to move towards profitability and growth and loving the work you do on a regular basis.

  • 5 powerful changes that you can make to take back time in your life
In this episode of the Overgivers Anonymous Podcast, we are talking about the five powerful changes that you can make to take back time in your life. There is nothing more important to me than time. The idea of taking time to be with the people around me is very important and I love it when people make time to spend with me. So when it comes to time, there are some things that I do to make sure that I am using my time as effectively as possible.
The five powerful changes I would encourage you to do in your life to take back your time are:

Creating boundaries around your time so that you can choose what you’re working on at any given moment.
Protect your calendar. If you currently don’t have somebody who’s doing that for you, then I encourage you to be your own gatekeeper. When you put things in your calendar make sure that you are looking at it with the hat of the gatekeeper on. If you have an assistant who is responsible for being your gatekeeper, please empower them to make those choices for you.
Say “No”. It’s perfectly okay to say, this isn’t the right fit, but I can help you find somebody who would be a better fit. “No” is powerful. And it’s simple, and I encourage you to use it more.
Set your working hours. It is just as important to set your working hours as it is to set the time that you’re going to spend with your family. The most important thing to think about when you are setting time aside for either your working hours, family time or personal time is that it is important to be 100% present in each of those time periods.
Setting time aside for yourself. We make time for the things that are important to us, and if we don’t make time for it, it’s not important. YOU ARE IMPORTANT!

  • Marcia Dolgin – A heart based approach through sales to the end result
In this episode of Overgivers Anonymous, we have a very special guest. Marcia Dolgin is a small-town girl, 1st born into a dysfunctional family and determined to be free. Her formal fine art background (BFA degree) mixed with years of professional development (including 3 years with the Ansel Adams team, plus countless other top artists and business specialists) resulted in becoming a thought leader in her business in the photography industry as a professional photographer. Marcia served her clients while being a national teacher to professionals in the transition from film to the digital format in printing with Epson of America as well as Ercosoft.us RIP (Raster Image Processing) who also used her images for international promotions. Now she brings wisdom in sales, building trust for the unknown (like insurance) based on emotional prompts triggered from the conversation to have clients give her what she needs so that they get what they desire for the end result. Her forever and consistent goal in life has been to turn people onto themselves through heart triggered photography as a revealing tool to reach new levels of creativity and unconditional love.
In today’s podcast, Marcia shares with us her story of overcoming a difficult start and finding her love through vision and photography. She tells us amazing moments that helped her realize how to make people find themselves, which became her passion. In this conversation full of awesome insights about business, connecting with your clients and yourself, she teaches us self awareness exercises and gives a beautiful example of how to be successful spreading love.
In any company, you do what works for you. And there are things that are uncomfortable, and that’s okay. Here’s an example. The traditional way that things were run back in the day was people would get paid after they had a session. That was the standard, and I (Marcia) was no way going to put myself in that kind of situation because that was demeaning to me. I needed to be paid ahead of time. And I was told by all my associates that I would fail. I did not fail. Not only that, but the whole industry changed to being paid beforehand. My excuse was, “hey, because I need to reserve a date. So we need to have the session fee paid upfront”. Still today, there are so many business owners who aren’t honouring themselves and their time by getting their payment upfront. The fact of the matter is you are reserving time for this other human being with this other business in your schedule. You should be paid upfront.
I (Marcia) started to change the industry. This non-judgmental thing was very powerful at that time. There was a tremendous amount of misuse and misunderstanding and to be in photography, just like a lot of industries on the internet, you didn’t have to get certified. It could just be a side hustle and side hustle didn’t even exist back then. So people were paying based on the style and referrals. That’s what people are buying. So the first thing you have to earn is trust. No matter what, you can shove stuff down people’s throat, you can do whatever you want. But if they don’t trust you, the party’s over. They don’t have to like you. And they don’t have to even know you. But they have to trust you. If you had a doctor that didn’t have a great bedside manner, but you knew that they were a rock star in the operating room, you don’t have to like them, you know that they’re going to do a good job.
Here is an exercise. When you’re taking photographs, after you’ve taken the photograph, look at the camera and look at the result. And just see; what were you aware of? And what were you not aware of? Did you get what you wanted? Maybe you didn’t. It’s irrelevant in this particular conversation. Just start looking at it and seeing what were you aware of when yo...
