  • EP101 We Want to Hear You.

Welcome to episode 101 where we finish up the month on assertiveness by exploring the concept of using your voice, and making your inside and outside voices match.

In this episode we talk about how rediscovering your confident inner four year old, and beginning to use your voice to express your truth. With kindness, firmness, and the vibe that you are straight with YOU. It's about making your insides match your outsides. It's about allowing yourself to be heard. You believe in you, and now it's time to put that truth out there.

    Key Elements:

    • Discuss examples of what it looks like to NOT use your voice.
    • Identify times when it is healthy and necessary to speak up, and how to do it.
    • Look at why a good understanding of boundaries and detachment are crucial for assertiveness.

    "The most courageous act

    is still to think

    for yourself.

    Aloud."

  • EP100 The Truth About Assertiveness:

Wow Episode 100! We are celebrating this milestone with my guest Sonya Thompsen-Halsey, Marriage and Family Therapist and Life Coach, and we get into some wonderful conversation about assertiveness, answering your questions and hopefully provoking some thought and insights along the way.

In this episode, we discuss some of the most common questions we have heard over the years regarding the concept of assertiveness, dispelling some old myths out there and challenging you to think about what being confident and connecting is all about.

    Key Elements:

    • Uncovering some different angles on the idea of being assertive.
    • Understanding how change can look in our relationships when we begin speaking our truth.
    • Look at ways we can soften our delivery while standing our ground.

"To be passive is to let others decide for you.

To be aggressive is to decide for others.

To be assertive is to decide for yourself.

And to trust that there is enough,

    that you are enough."

  • Episode 098 Emotional Honesty: The Backbone of Health Assertiveness

Welcome to episode 98 where we start out the month focusing on the concept of assertiveness and how emotional honesty is such a big part of that ability to speak calmly yet firmly.

In this episode, we talk about how being brave means risking being open, being honest, confronting, setting limits with others and asking for what we need. We explore how to be assertive means to be genuine and therefore emotionally honest. It's the best way but not always the easiest nor is it always well received, mostly by people who themselves are afraid to be open. But we know we can't be truly confident without it.

    Key Elements:

    • Discuss how fear is at the core of avoiding honesty.
    • Look at four key areas we need to work on that comprise emotional honesty.
    • Describe ways you want to come across, contrasted with how we hope no one describes us.

    "Authenticity starts in the heart."
