Today on the 5: I followed up Death Dorm with another movie often described as a cheap ripoff of a popular series. This time it's mostly Mad Max serving as the "inspiration" for a film titled Phoenix The Warrior. I wish i could tell you it's better than that reputation, but this one is going to be a pass for most people.

Today on the 5: I watched the 1982 slasher film The Dorm That Dripped Blood, one of many movies that were part of the infamous UK "video nasties". While it's definitely one of the tamer slashers from the time period, it did enough interesting things that it ended up better than I expected.

Today on the 5: I came across a Wired story talking about the current state of social media and how it seems to getting more siloed. While I don't disagree with the majority of what the article is saying, I'm also not sure it's anything that can really be avoided at this point. 

Today on the 5: The Uvalde school shooting in back in the news as there have been new findings about what went wrong the police response. Predictably, this has people once again criticizing and defending the law enforcement officers involved in the incident. One particular defense of the first responders is particularly infuriating to me.

Today on the 5: As many people smarter than I had suspected from the start, we've now found out that the "machine generated" special imitating George Carlin was actualy written by a human bieng. That fact doesn't change the reality that the special isn't any good, but for me it somehow makes that failure even worse!

Today on the 5: Over the weekend I watched a bizarre TV movie from 1974 titled Killdozer. I had a bit of a mental struggle with it for a little while, but at some point I just decided to ride the weird wave this movie is cruising on.
