Today on the 5: It's tough to listen to any tech shows right now without hearing some degree of evangelization about how great AI tools are. As I've paid attention to the hottest thing in tech blow up, what's becoming clear is that cost and utility is what may keep these tools from being truly transformative, at least for most people.

Today on the 5: I've had my complaints over the years about how people are generally apathetic and selfish. I still do, but recently there have been some signs that maybe some people are less self-absorbed than they got credit for. 

Today on the 5: Over the weekend I watched a horror film from 1984 titled Sole Survivor. I'd never heard about it beyond some comparisons to the later Final Destination films, so I wasn't expecting much. Once I got to the end of it, I was actually very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Today on the 5: I found a bit of irony in the fact that only a few weeks after I started trying to use TikTok, the United States passed a law that will try to ban it. I can't I agree with the potential ban, but I can tell you for sure the platform itself is sure trying to ban me from using it!

Today on the 5: As tends to happen every 5 or 10 years, I've heard a bunch of discussion around the idea of whether we're all trapped in a monoculture. I understand where this concern comes from, but I think it's a problem that is solving itself over time.

Today on the 5: I came across another movie that had some wildly divisive reviews titled Operation Ganymed. Love it or hate it movies are always interesting to me, so I had to give this one a watch. While it's not necessarily a bad movie, it's also not a very well made movie.

Today on the 5: I have finished watching the Fallout streaming series, which I have been looking forward to for a while now. I've often talked about little value I place in most critical assessments  of popular media, but this is one of the cases where I'm in agreement with the majority of them!

Today on rhe 5: Since the review embargo lifted on the Humane AI Pin, many reviews have been published, and most have not been kind. In particular, Marques Brownlee for some very pointed criticism because of the influence his channel commands and the negative effect his video could have on the company and devices in the AI space. Wow, how colossally stupid is that!
