Padres Hot Tub

After two disappointing losses, one to the Mets and one to the freaking Detroit Tigers, Craig and John do their best to contain their anger and end up mostly yelling at the team to trade for Juan Soto. Do it. Trade for Juan Soto!

Craig and John play a game of "over or under" to figure out how the San Diego Padres will improve and which individual players will take a step forward or back.

Craig and John had plans to discuss a whole bunch of things about the Padres, but instead they end up just dreaming about a trade for Juan Soto for an entire hour.

The Padres lose to the DBacks 3-1 on Sunday but take 2 of 3 going into the break.

We talk about it but most everyone wants to talk about Juan Soto.

-Is there one move that can improve the Padres enough for it to be worth the cost?
-How are we going to look back at this season for Fernando Tatis Jr's career?
-What are three reasons to stay excited about the Padres in the second half?

These questions and many more are posed and answered by Craig Elsten and the PHT Discord audience.

Craig and John recap the last week or so of (bad) San Diego Padres baseball before getting into a very long discussion about what the Padres can, should and will do in the next few weeks leading up to the trade deadline.

Carlos Rodon shut down the Padres offense in a must-win game for the Giants, but the Padres' spotty defense and suspect late relief are of concern.

After a really great 6-3 win over the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres fans should've been doing victory laps about Manny Machado (who is back) or Blake Snell (who might also be back) but, instead, John jumped on the Discord to gripe and complain with others about Eric Hosmer's total lack of effort when it comes to playing professional baseball. His embarrassing defense was on full display again on Friday night, along with his meager offense.

After yet another extra-inning win with yet another Jorge Alfaro walkoff hit, John jumps on the PHT Discord and does a post game show to discuss a rollercoaster of a game. While it was nice to see the Padres get a W, questions and concerns remain around the health of Jurickson Profar and the effectiveness of Taylor Rogers.

Craig and John get together at Bottle Rocket after the Padres were swept by the Seattle Mariners to look back at the last week and talk about what the team can do, should do, and will do to try and keep itself from going into a full collapse heading into the all-star break.
