Manny Machado hit two RBI doubles, Jake Cronenworth hit a 2-run homer, Fernando Tatis Jr. blasted a solo shot in the 7th and Jason Adam & Robert Suarez slammed to door closed the Padres beat the Athletics 5-4 in Sacramento, California.

The win gives the Padres the best record in baseball at 9-2., and- perhaps more importantly- puts them in the NL-West lead for the 1st time this season.

Michael King (2-0) got the win in spite of giving up 3 runs on 8 hits in 5 2/3 innings.
