Their Member's show 2019 -23rd Annual Juried Exhibition will be on display from August 24-October 26.     Talked with John Campbell and Christina Stone from Palm Beach County Library. The library is celebrating it's 50th anniversary with all kinds of great events. The next big one coming up is called Dewey Con. It will be August 17/18 at the main library branch 3650 Summit Blvd, West Palm Beach, 33406 from 10a-3p Sat/1p-4p Sun. They have stuff for all ages including: comics, cosplay contests, trivia, escape rooms, crafts, face painting, board games, chalk art, special guests, tech toys, food trucks and lots of prizes.   • PB PERS SF Science Ctr Aquarium
    Talked with Melinda Grenz, Director of Marketing, South Florida Science Center and Aquarium. The science center has a lot of great things going on. They are getting ready for the STEM Innovation awards and the deadline for listeners to submit nominations is August 9th. Nominees can be individuals, corporations, educators, scientists and non-profit organizations, tech club, . The awards ceremony will be September 7th from 6-9pm. Listeners can nominate/get tickets at SFSciencecenter.org. We also talked about the shark week events that are wrapping up (can still get pic in the shark cage after) their sensory days, mini golf, science trail, brain exhibition and a new traveling exhibit, "Hall of Heroes". They can also host large groups for training, weddings, birthdays. Iheart just did a training day there and we were able to enjoy the stand alone learning center and then a round of golf for team building.     Talked with Chris Farrell, Meteorologist, CBS 12. We talked about the ongoing hurricane season. Chris suggested doing a few things each weekend such as trimming trees now, setting up hurricane kit, checking on insurance, getting flood insurance, putting important papers in waterproof container, deciding on your evacuation plan depending on the severity of the storm.     Talked with Elizabeth Prol and Jonelle Morgan from Foundcare. Foundcare is holding their "Back to School" Health Fair on Friday, August 2nd, from 9a to 1pm. It's free event where kids can get their back-to-school physicals and shots. This year is a community hero theme. They'll have entertainment including Touch Trucks, music, face painting, and the kids get a free backpack as well.     Talked with Glenn and Rachel from the Norton Museum of Art. They have a bunch of summer exhibitions starting and are getting ready for their annual Bastille Day event on the 13th. Exhibitions are: See and be Seen, Small Worlds 5 Centuries of European Prints and Drawings from the collection. They've moved Art After Dark from Thursday to Friday night from 5pm-10pm and the restaurant will be open late for fun "Date Nights". Listeners can check out movies in the garden and The Women's Walk located on Cranesnest Way on the South edge of the campus. Listeners can text 56512 to hear a guided tour.     Talked with Col. Trent Stephens and Elizabeth Dashiell from Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival. This year the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival presents: Romeo and Juliet for the " Shakespeare by the Sea 29" running: July 11-14, 2018 & July 18-21, 2018 Gates open at 6:30 pm • Show at 8:00 pm Seabreeze Amphitheater – Carlin Park, Jupiter. It's their 29th Shakespeare by the Sea. They offer free professional performances at Carlin Park in Jupiter. Thursday-Sunday. Listeners can bring their own food, blankets, chair, drinks or purchase food and drink there. Admission is free but they do accept donations. This year they have fun gift for a $20 and up donations.     Talked with Dr. Alonso. Director, Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County. Since there's been a lot of news coverage about HEP A and measles, Dr. Alonso explained what the diseases were, how they are contracted, preventions, such as vaccines or as simple as washing your hands. We also discussed booster shots, flu/pneumonia shots. The health department is also working closely with other agencies in the community to help address the opioid epidemic in the community.     Talked with Bert and Herb from the Jupiter Tequesta Repeater Group, JTRG. They are an ARRL affiliated, Special Service Club and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that creates awareness of Amateur Radio and provides community assistance and goodwill.
    JTRG is an active club, involved with all aspects of amateur radio, public service and Amateur Radio examinations. They welcome folks of all ages to join. The group provides communications and logistics for area events and assistance in emergency situations, like Hurricanes/Natural Disasters. They are hosting a field day event Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23 at Carlin Park in Jupiter Florida to show the public how Ham Radio works. Listeners can come enjoy this free event, try and make a contact using a ham radio (club members are there to assist) and see how the JTRG folks work the radios in a no power situation. Club members will be using solar, wind, battery power to operate the equipment (like they would in an emergency situation). Listeners can sign up for classes to get their Ham license at the Field day and/or go to www.jtrg.org for more info.

    Talked with Mallory Cotter, Visitor Experience & Volunteer Coordinator, Mounts Botanical and Elizabeth Dashiell, Palm Beach PR. Mounts is celebrating their 40th anniversary. They just extended the "Stickworks" exhibit and announced that admission is free for Palm Beach County residents on Thursdays throughout the summer. Coming up there are several events including: June 15th-Farm your Backyard, June 19th Propagation-increasing your numbers, June 22nd Family Fun Day, and June 25th - Stories in the Garden. They are always looking for volunteers to work at the garden or help with events.
