  • Galeet Dardashti – New Album “Monajat”

Galeet Dardashti returns to Paradigms to share her new project Monajat wherein Galeet brings together her love of music, her work as an anthropologist, and her celebration of her grandfather Younes Dardashti who was a famous Persian Jewish singer.

In this time of polarization and conflict in the region called “The Middle East” with more horrific violence perpetrated by extremists, Jews and Arabs, let us keep in mind that most of those who have been killed since the October 7 attack by Hamas, have been Palestinian children, killed by the Israel Defense Forces.

There was a time, not so long ago, when Arabs and Jews lived side by side without conflict, in community.  What will it take to return to peaceful coexistence?

  • Alex Cornelissen – “Sea Shepherd Global” Ship Captain and CEO

Alex Cornelissen is CEO and a ship Captain with Sea Shepherd Global having come up through the ranks, starting out as Chief Cook in 2002 on the good ship Farley Mowat.  Since then Alex has participated in many campaigns to stop illegal fishing and whaling from Europe to Africa to Antarctica.

The state of Earth’s oceans is dire. Extraction of fish and other life forms, and pollution, threaten the life of the oceans, which means that all life on Earth is threatened.  Life on Earth depends upon the oxygen provided by the oceans.  With oceanic dead zones increasing in number and area due to human activity, we are destroying that which gives us breath.

  • Diana Helmuth – New Book “The Witching Year”

Many traditions have some form of “a year and a day” for trying a new practice, for breaking a pattern or establishing a new one. Diana Helmuth has written a book The Witching Year – a Memoir of Earnest Fumbling Through Modern Witchcraft wherein she describes her experience of exploring and practicing modern witchcraft for one year.

The book is one person’s account of their sincere journey of exploration, which includes skepticism, revelation, feeling challenged, embracing change, and more.  It’s a human’s journey of inquiry and learning.

Diana and Baruch discussed the book and what’s in it, as well as addressing the human propensity to search for meaning, and where that can lead.

The book is worth reading both as an interesting account of someone’s experience, and as an introduction to Earth based spirituality in a form that is easy to relate with.

Music by: Loreena Mckennitt, Lindie Lila, Steeleye Span, Gypsy, Rumors of the Big Wave, and Laura Nyro.
