Gigs4U is a company in Seattle that coordinates musicians playing in public venues, i.e. airports, parks, and the like. The result of their work is that musicians work regularly and are paid, and people get to hear beautiful music in settings that are usually not musical. Music is one of the greatest things human beings ever came up with! It reduces stress, allows people to connect more easily, and inspires.

Max Gomez is a folk singer with a new EP called Me & Joe. He is also a founder of the Red River Music Festival which takes place in Red River, New Mexico. Raúl Vargas of the band Makrú discusses the band’s history of bringing together many styles of music, and their new CD Tu Mission.

Raúl is originally from Madrid, but he has traveled and lived in many places, eventually landing in San Francisco where Makrú came into being.

Makrú is Jenny Rodríguez, Raúl Vargas, Vinicio Peñate, Bob Sanders, and Haluk Kecelioglu, playing music to sooth and support the mission of justice for all.

Donna De Lory has a new CD Here in Heaven. Donna is a singer, songwriter/composer who has worked with artists like Bette Midler, Carly Simon, Leonard Cohen, Madonna, and many others.

Donna was on top of the music scene but something was missing. “I wasn’t singing my truth,” she says. “I said to myself, I thought, ‘I’ve got to shift this.’ So I wrote a prayer—‘I want my life to change, I want my life to change’—on a piece of paper and put it in my dresser. And my life really did change. I got pregnant, had my daughter, and started doing mantra music.” Thus came about Donna’s 2001 CD Bliss.

Michael William Gilbert has a new CD called Radio Omnibus which will take you on a trip! This is not the music you are accustomed to, and it will surprise you!

Michael grew up in Connecticut and Brussels, Belgium. Living in Europe, he first encountered the music of Varese, Stockhausen, and Pierre Henry, as well as music of India, Africa, and Japan. After studying electrical engineering at MIT, Michael studied in music at the Boston School of Electronic Music, eventually joining their faculty, and designing sound synthesis systems. He graduated with a degree in music from Hampshire College, and shortly thereafter became the technical director of electronic music studios at Amherst College, Smith College, Hampshire College, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has since taught electronic music at Hampshire College, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Holyoke Community College.
