ParaScience

TW // disappeared persons, paranoia

Out one hotel and into another. Saint and Alister arrive in Kenway, NV, an empty ghost town of only 310 people, though who knows how long it’s been since that sign was updated. Alister briefs Saint on the Department’s concerns with missing agent Oliver Coy and their plan of attack as they check into the Roadside Bed and Breakfast. Saint has to confront his greatest fear: lying about his identity and Ezra confronts the idea that 80 years ago.. isn’t 1920.

ParaScience is an actual play, paranormal horror podcast told through Fate. With a logo by cryptic Terra Bosart and theme by the ethereal Johnny Rinaldo! This chapter’s story was created with the assistance of Sara Husen.

TW // The following episode of ParaScience contains references to a kidnapping, a possible abduction, and smoking.

Settled bills, shared sunrises and still photographs. Before our investigators drive off into the desert, they need to solve a missing persons case. But just how long do they look for Jules when Allister has a pressing mission begging for his attention?

The unlit skeleton of a neon giant marks the road home to Kenway, Nevada. A gaudy cowboy in boots and spurs stands stiff and immense above the road sign to this small American hamlet.

As mention previously, Nik will not be joining us for at least this chapter as they pursue their education.

“That’s why I have a hard time trusting Alister,” Jules tells Saint as they sit in a dark midnight diner on the edges of Long Beach. As Alister receives his new assignment from his agency employers, Jules lets out her deepest fears over an order of fries. Perhaps the real monsters were the ones we befriended along the way.

There’s a missing Department agent in Kenway, Nevada and an empty hotel room just down the hallway.

This is Nik Boylan’s last episode as Jules Eugenia Ortiz for now.

I’d like to take you to Long Beach, California, just as autumn is beginning to fade. The air and ocean are indistinguishably grey and paint a bright canvas against the ocean liners docked in Long Beach Harbor. There are many ships floating here on the peninsula - some are only sleeping until summer, but only the Queen Mary is dead in the water - stationary and rusted. It is decidedly not tourist season. And yet there are plenty of cars parked here on the dock - surrounded by sleeping giants.

“Mister Thornwall, I have dedicated my whole life, my whole adult life, to saving people,” Saint explains to the ship’s concierge when asked what he and two supposed port authority inspectors are doing exploring the abandoned pool inside the Queen Mary.

But there may not be anything to save down here beneath the surface.

The Drowning Ghost on board the Queen Mary comes deeper into focus as a strange and jarring radio signal echoes off the tiles of the ship’s pool. Now Jules, Saint and Alister are putting their heads together trying to piece together the clues leading up to this new phantom.

The powerful smell of chlorine and mildew assaults the senses of Allister and Jules as they both sniff out any spectral happenings in the abandoned, historical pool of the Queen Mary. Is there something more than cameras, sound equipment and patch jobs down here?

While Jules and Agent McAndrews head into the depths of the Queen Mary to search out the ghostly encounter and its sole witness, Saint finds himself rubbing elbows with the ship’s other guests, none of whom seem particularly qualified for the horror that lurks below.

What secrets does Saint bring to the table from his past?

A creeping encounter by the emptied pool below deck has left our three investigators a little bit shaken as they navigate the swaying hallways of the Queen Mary. Allister, Jules and Saint haven’t got their sea legs yet and already they’ve told a few white lies and been set adrift aboard this aging vessel. Now Saint’s been invited to tonight’s proceedings, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to get any straight answers.

After a harrowing encounter with a swimming pool and an even more harrowing encounter with the ship’s historian, our investigators have to start navigating through the other guests onboard the Queen Mary and formulate a battle strategy to gather as much information as they can about the ship’s recently materialized specter.

Our investigators have comfortably checked into a comfortable room aboard the Queen Mary. Their investigation can’t possibly begin in the minifridge so our trio must head further down into the heart of the ship, to the indoor pool where a hazy spectral entity was captured on video only a few weeks before.
