This episode is a discussion about ways we maximize the results of Bryce's therapies. We also talk about "delay or denial", "overselective", and Bryce's recent spike of sobbing tears over unexpected things. It's not easy parenting a child that struggles with communication and processes information in a completely different way. It requires an extra dose of patience, compassion, and puzzle-solving skills.
Bryce is a funny, mechanical, HAPPY little guy who was diagnosed with autism at age two and is now seven years old. His pure joy makes this world a much better place!

This episode is a discussion about our autism journey headlines from the two-week family vacation we took in Colorado. After being inside of the COVID bubble the past six months, we had to shake the dust off some of our parenting skills and tools with Bryce back in the "real world". Overall, he did amazingly well!! We are so proud of him! This trip was packed full of new experiences, places, people, and transitions with nine different hotels. Getting him outdoors and exploring nature was a major parenting victory and beautiful to watch as it unfolded during our two-week span.

This episode is a discussion about our autism journey headlines from the last two weeks. We talk about Bryce's traumatic Urgent Care procedure as well an increase in "SIB" - Self Injurious Behavior. We hash out our decision as to whether we should continue ABA services at this time. We are struggling to find the right RBT to replace Miss Melanie and also figure out the right time for it on our schedule. With COVID-19 still affecting our social outings, it limits the opportunities to help Bryce with "real life" situations.

This episode is a discussion about our first year of homeschooling Bryce - He has completed Kindergarten and having fun in first grade now! ☺
We share how we researched for curriculums along with other tools we have acquired along the way this past school year. With so much uncertainty in public schools at this time due to COVID-19, we thought this would be a timely episode to share our first year experience.
Stay tuned to the end to hear Bryce read an excerpt from one of his favorite books.

This episode is a discussion of how we have been helping Bryce conquer major fears like swimming underwater, water balloons, and "popping" sounds.
We also interviewed a very special guest. Cassidy is one of Bryce's friends who has been a part of our social interaction therapy. You may be amazed at her ability to understand Bryce's emotions and needs, since she is only eight years old. These two have a special friendship connection that is an answer to our prayers! Our prayers are for him to have a deep friendship with at least one little girl and one little boy who will understand him, accept him, teach him, protect him from others, and provide him life skills that we are not able to give him as "peers". We love that she is "motherly" to him and genuinely cares about him.

As always, we have some new behaviors popping up as others fade out. At the end of the day, we see and hear Bryce progressing with authentic love and happiness. We know we're doing something right and keep on rockin'.
BONUS: Today, we celebrated Chris' birthday ... Bryce played his acoustic guitar and sang "Happy Birthday" for the podcast! The musical progress has been incredible and heart-warming. We are in awe each week and we watch him connect even deeper to his love of music.☺
