This episode is a discussion about two of our seven sense that they didn't teach us in school! We are learning how Bryce's Proprioception (Muscle) and Vestibular (Movement) Senses are contributing to our current autistic behavior concerns. Our diet changes have removed the fog and INCREASED his movement! We are learning ways to help regulate these sense to keep him safe and happy. Investing in his interest for drumming is a new activity that has been great for these senses, both using many muscles with LOTS of movement.
Our seven senses are explained in a parent-friendly way in the book "Adventures of the Sensokids "I've Got the Wiggles!" by Reema Naim, OTD, OTR/L.
Highly recommended!

This episode is a discussion about continuous improvements we are experiencing into our 2nd month of removing Bryce's four food offenders (gluten, eggs, corn, and soy) as well as dairy. We have also removed "nightshades" as we monitor his skin and his behaviors. We talk about our summer "binge watch series, "The Chosen. This series about the life of Jesus and his disciples has been very impactful for both of us. The series depicting Matthew on the autism spectrum is just a bonus to us. The character is well played, misunderstood, and shows many characteristics that are common with autism. Lastly, we talk about a BIG breakthrough at church for Bryce!

This episode is a discussion about improvements we are experiencing after three weeks of removing Bryce's four food offenders (gluten, eggs, corn, and soy) as well as dairy. He continues to do amazingly well with the food changes. Nightshade foods are now being removed after major skin breakouts after potatoes. We discuss in detail a recent meltdown that was based on fear, not control as well as other headlines from the past two weeks. Lastly, we talk about our Cub Scout update and how God opened a new door for us.

He has done amazingly well with the food changes during the first week. We discuss in detail some of the recent self-injurious and property destruction behaviors from the past two weeks and also rejoice that we had three days in a row that Bryce managed his emotions well. Yay! Lastly, we discuss a conversation with Bryce's Cub Scout leader and our pending decision to continue Cub Scouts and which pack may be best for our family.

This episode is a discussion about our decision to revisit Bryce's food sensitivities, diet changes, and a bio-medical approach to helping Bryce with an increase of self-injurious behaviors. We will be removing four food offenders (gluten, eggs, corn, and soy) as well as dairy. Bryce's testing showed no intolerance to cow's milk but there could be other offenders in dairy, so we want to remove it for now. The search for acceptable foods and recipes is a high priority right now. A God-send in the mail was the book "Playing with your Food" by Sarah Appleman. This book has many fun ideas to help Bryce transition into eating more fruits and vegetables by using game formats. I am sure we will be providing updates, since this will be a short-term commitment that could very possibly become a new lifestyle if we experience the results we hope to achieve!

This episode is a discussion about our COVID-19 experience at The Colter Hotel (HQ) the past two weeks. We share our symptoms as well as how it affected Bryce. Being out of therapy and routine left him unregulated with energy and emotions at time. He also was worried about our health and update that we didn't get to celebrate Daddy's birthday with other people. We also talk about the positive things that came from having some time to "be still".
