Parshas Vayakhel & Pekudei: The Altar Within

As we conclude Sefer Shemos, the Mishkan is finally completed and the Divine Presence descends among the Jewish people. 

Yet within the Mishkan stands a mystery. Unlike the other sacred vessels, the two altars cannot become ritually impure. Why are they different?
