  • Episode 29.7 Brain Drain 2: Prevention & Warning Signs - Part VII

Welcome to Part VII of our sequel series about how to escape and stay free from sabotaging influences.

How do you recognize when there is an unhealthy fixation and excessively high opinion centered on a person? And if you see it hurting someone, how do you talk to them in a helpful way?

It can be very difficult to cut through someone's idealizing of another person. When they idolize everything about the person they are involved with, that person who is the object of their adoration becomes a hub (or THE hub) where all of their thoughts return as a pillar in the way they view life. Yet it is still possible to engage the problem carefully without turning them against you! Listen in and find out:

    1. how to address a person who is caught up in excessive veneration in a way that doesn't generate animosity,

    2. and the best general way to help them become aware of the harmfulness of their imbalanced view.

  • Episode 29.6 Brain Drain 2: Prevention & Warning Signs - Part VI

Welcome to Part VI of our sequel series about how to escape and stay free from sabotaging influences.

How do you talk to someone who you think might be getting manipulated or even brainwashed? When they start suddenly changing and becoming unlike themselves, is there a way of approaching them to be a counter-influence to whatever negative thing is going on in their life?

Sometimes it can be difficult to put our finger on the specific things we are picking up on about someone who we feel is being manipulated – let alone how to talk to them about it. Listen to this episode to find out:

    1. what kind of changes of habits and personal style indicate that someone is under the influence of a controlling person,

    2. the diplomatic way to speak to someone who has become entangled in someone else's will for their life,

    3. and how to stay out of the trap of becoming seen as a threat to someone whose mind is already under a lot of weight.

  • Episode 29.5 Brain Drain 2: Prevention & Warning Signs - Part V

Welcome to Part V of our sequel series about how to escape and stay free from sabotaging influences.

When is change a bad thing? How do you know if someone is changing you (or someone you care about) for the worse instead of for the better?

We all go through a lot of change throughout our lives. This is especially true for certain periods of time such as: the teenaged years, when we have just gotten into our adulthood, when we meet people who become very strong influences in our life, when we discover new things that we find exhilarating, etc. But although some of these seemingly extreme changes are perfectly natural, there are some changes that may happen that are a sign of someone's personality being highjacked. When a person is suddenly careening out of control into directions that are out of context for them, it could be indicating that they are losing their own self-direction to someone else's influence. We can learn to recognize these symptoms with a little knowledge and practice. Listen in and find out how!

  • Episode 29.4 Brain Drain 2: Prevention & Warning Signs - Part IV

Welcome to Part IV of our sequel series about how to escape and stay free from sabotaging influences.

How do you become a good judge of character? And what keeps a person from having good discernment?

It can be hard to cut through the fog sometimes when we are trying to navigate between what we want to believe about people and the reality of what they are actually like. Sometimes, if we are honest, what we want to believe isn't always the most positive because of our hurts and fears. That can keep us from giving people a chance who might actually deserve one. Other times, we can want so badly to see others in a positive way that we blind ourselves to the signs of their actual character, setting ourselves up to be hurt. But it is possible to position ourselves within a good support system that helps us to know how to make wise judgments and develop reliable discernment. Listen in and find out:

    1. how to stay away from discernment killers,

    2. and the best ways to grow in strong discernment.

Welcome to Part XV of our series about the power of influence and how we are unconsciously impacted by all the things we see and hear.

What is it like trying to break up with a brainwashing manipulator? Is it even possible to get away gracefully? When you're in a "relationship" with someone whose only interest is what they can get for themselves, they usually don't want to fully let go of you. And that is even if they are the one that pushed you away first! A selfish person likes the security they have in your availability to them so they can hold on to the comfort and familiarity. They feel a sense of ownership and enjoy the perks of your "relationship", but in their heart they are unwilling to change and take up their responsibility to be kind, nurturing, respectful, grateful, trustworthy, and protective to you and the relationship itself. Listen in to hear about the things that a manipulator may try to do in their desperate attempts to pull you back to them once you begin to get away from them– and how to stand your ground!
