Welcome to Part IV of the seventh sector of our mega-series: Am I Always Going to Be Alone? Finding Your Fairytale from our ME³! podcast.
Continuing where we left off about facing fear being the right way to overcome it, we also touch a little bit on the fear of social awkwardness. It is the perfect example of fear being the problem in and of itself. We share one of the ways of facing fear: 1) take a piece of paper or note on your phone and write out what is all involved with the specific fear you're dealing with, 2) delineate what you are feeling involving that fear and why, 3) how realistic the object of that fear really is, 4) whether the end result would really be as bad as all of your worrying about it is putting you through, 5) what you might be able to do to prevent the situation you are afraid of, and 6) how to respond if it does happen despite your preventative measures. Continuing forward, Brandi shares what it was like dealing with her captor who used fear constantly to manipulate her while trying to make her believe he was actually doing everything "for her good". People that use fear to control us rely heavily on deception and our attachment to them.
