Anas Abdulhak is a Syrian born writer (currently residing in Cyprus) whose first love is poetry. When he was a child he was exposed to comics via the magic of the internet and has been a fan of them ever since he discovered the adventures of Charles Xavier and his merry band of mutants. As he grew older and wanted to create his own comics, he decided to make stories that reflected his love of poems and the lyrically beautiful language they contained. The result is Etheres (being published by Source Point Press)…a meditation on the afterlife and the various traumas that life visits upon us all. On this episode of the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian sits down to discuss the magic within the pages of Etheres and what inspired Anas to create what is one of the more introspective and gorgeous comics to come out in marketplace today.

Gabe Cheng is a Part-Time Fanboy five-timer! Gabe has been on the podcast several times before chatting about his various comic book projects. He’s a creator who prefers to do one-off comedic sci-fi stories. In books like The Problems With Parallels and Crashlands, Cheng has embraced the spirit of his favorite animated series Futurama. But Gabe didn’t start off in the comics scene with a humorous tale. His first project was a survivalist, post-apocalyptic style book about talking dogs known as For Molly…which is on Kickstarter now funding its trade paperback collected edition. On this episode of Part-Time Fanboy, Kristian chats with Gabe about how the creation of For Molly sprang from a major personal change in his own life, why he finds it so exciting to finally pull his serialized tale into a collected book, and why he’s happy to finally put For Molly to bed and move onto other projects that reflect his current, happier state of mind.

Dalton K. Shannon is a writer who has a love of kaiju and giant sized mecha robots. Shannon cannot remember a time in his life when the King of the Monsters, Godzilla (or Gojira) was not present in his life. So when it came time to get his first Kickstarter comic book project off the ground with co-writer Wells Thompson and artist Fernando Pinto, it was obvious to him that it had to be something that involved giant robots fighting giant monsters. Thus was born the saga of MechaTon (currently funding on Kickstarter)…a story about a pair of siblings who discover a cosmically powered glove that enables them to transform just about anything it touches into a giant robot! On this episode of the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian chats with Dalton about the inspiration behind MechaTon, why they both love the original Japanese kaiju known in the U.S. as Godzilla, and what makes MechaTon different than all the other giant fighting mecha comics that have come before it!
