  • Part-Time Fanboy Podcast: Ep 552 Ari Gross is Master of the House with Upkeep!

Ari Gross is, in Kristian's opinion, a talent deserving of wider recognition. He's only just begun his comic creation journey in the past several years with books like Awakening, Wardens, and Upkeep but the stories he creates show promise of a writer to keep an eye on. The second chapter of his Tales From The Crypt like horror tale, Upkeep, is currently funding on Kickstarter. Upkeep is the story of a family who finds their dream home but must pay a steep morale price in order to keep it. This week on the Part-Time Fanboy podcast, Kristian chats with Ari about making a comic where each issue takes place one year after the previous issue and how that timeline may coincide with the actual release dates of the book itself. They discuss how Upkeep may be like Richard Linklater's film Boyhood due to the time and effort it takes for an indie creator to actually put out a book on their own dime and how he plans the structure of a comic that could take him years to complete.

  • Part-Time Fanboy Podcast: Ep 546 Damn Dirty Apes-Planet of the Apes TV Show, Episodes 1-3

Just when you thought it was over...we're back with more Damn Dirty Apes episodes! When the producer of the original Planet of the Apes film series passed away, his production company sold the rights to 20th Century Fox Studios. Stuck with the rights to a film franchise that had diminishing returns, 20th Century Fox decided that the next logical step was to take the apes to the small screen. In 1974, The Planet of the Apes television show debuted in September, failed to find an audience, and ended up being cancelled by December. On this episode of the Part-Time Fanboy podcast Kristian chats with Joe Slepski (of the Joe on Joe Podcast) and PTF regular Yvis Cannavale about the first three episodes of the POTA TV show. They discuss why the show might not have caught on with viewers, whether this new series is set in a completely new continuity from the films, and what could have possibly made the show a better watch.

Note: On this episode, Kristian had to use an alternate Microphone so the quality of his recording is a bit different this week than usual.

  • Part-Time Fanboy Podcast: Ep 545 Adam Rose Brings Originality to Two Tall Tales in Huge Detective and Corollary!

Adam Rose is a comic book writer with a flair for original ideas.
