John R. Lott, Jr. of the Crime Prevention Research Center joins the program to shed a little light on the overall trends of gun ownership since Donald Trump's election.  According to Lott, the number of concealed carry permits among women and minorities has dramatically increased, and crime rates among all holders of such permits in Florida and Texas are incredibly low.

-Since Trump’s election – There has not been a decrease in the number of permits being obtained

-‘Constitutional Carry’ – being allowed to carry without a permit in certain states

-The fear that assault weapons would be banned has waned

-Last four years: 93% increase for women, 33% faster for blacks than for whites

-These people are those who benefit most from owning a gun

-Florida and Texas crime rates among permit holders are 1/6 that of police officers
