Merry Christmas! This week we conclude the God With and For Us series with the message titled Bethlehem Sunrise based on Luke 1: 76-79. We will look at how the birth of Christ means light to those in darkness, a pardon to the condemned, and guidance to those who have lost their way.

Continuing the series "God With and For Us", this week's message is titeld "God For Us" and is based on various scripture passages. The heart of Christmas is that God is with us and for us. Last Sunday our message focused on God being with us, as He moves closer and closer throughout the Old Testament times, until He moves in with us at Bethlehem. God becomes us, human. Today we learn what it means that God is for us. God is for us in our fears, failures, struggles, and worries. God with us and for us is a comfort and a challenge.

Our message today is titled God With Us and is based on Exodus 13:21 and Matthew 28:19-20. God’s Old Testament people knew the presence of God through a cloud, a tent, and a temple. We know His presence through Jesus Christ and now through the Holy Spirit. Let’s track how God, a divine being, goes about revealing Himself to humans, earthly beings. We’ll also learn how we can connect to God today.

Today we conclude the STOP series with the message “STOP . . . Comparing” based on scripture Genesis 4: 2b-16. We have a way of identifying our worth and performance and value based on how we compare to others. Comparing itself is not a bad thing. In fact, it’s an inevitable part of learning. It’s a primary strategy for young learners: “Which shape is different?” “What toys are in the box?” “What toys are outside the box?” “Can we get the toys in the box before mommy comes home?” We learn by comparing, but when I start to compare myself with another person, ego gets involved. Ego wants me to be exalted over another person. Then trouble is on the way.

As part of the STOP series this week we focus on STOP Complaining based on scriptures Groaning: Exodus 2: 23-24, Psalm 6:6 and Grumbling: Exodus 15: 25, Psalm 106: 25, Dt. 1: 27, Numbers 11:4 Also: Numbers 11: 10-15. Today our message is “Stop . . . Complaining.” The Bible has two words for verbalizing the weight of life. The first is “groaning.” The second is “complaining.” Today we will study each in context, and see how God interacts with Groaners and Complainers. Spoiler Alert: One He punishes; the other He answers.

As part of the STOP series this week we forcus on Stop Hiding based on scripture: Genesis 3: 6-13. Hiding in the Bible didn't stop at the beginning with Adam and Eve. David hides his evil. Jonah avoids responsibility. Elijah hides in a cave. Zacchaeus hides in a tree. Nicodemus comes to Jesus in secret. The disciples hide in a room. Peter hides his identity. Ananias and Sapphira hide the truth. Lots of hiding going on, and not much good comes from it. Adam blames Eve, and then Eve blames the serpent. Lots of blaming. David destroys a family and his reputation. Elijah falls into self-loathing. The disciples become prisoners of fear. Peter gives up. Despair, blame, loneliness, and fear are rampant. Not a lot of good comes from hiding. So, let’s not hide. Let’s live in the open. And let’s answer the call of God, “Where are you?” It’s an invite to His grace.

This week we begin the STOP Series with this weeks' message titled STOP Hurrying based on scripture Luke 10: 38-42. Does anyone else feel overcommitted, overburdened, overwhelmed? It’s only the start of November, but is anyone’s calendar already booked through December? Is life becoming just this activity blur, rather than something savored or experienced or remembered? For the month of November we will hear from God not what we need to start doing, but what we need to stop doing. This weekend we're launching a four-week series called STOP. We're going to look at four habits that are toxic to our lives that we assume are often just the normal way to go. In the end they become a barrier to experience the life God has for us, the life God calls us to live

This week's message titled "Reforming the Vote -- Who to Vote For and Why!" is based on scripture Romans 13: 1-7. This week Pathway Church celebrates the Protestant Reformation. In 1517 Martin Luther posted his concerns officially on the door of the All Saints’ Church in Wittenberg, Germany launching an enormous reformation in the church of Jesus Christ. In those days rulers and governments believed that people of their kingdoms needed to have the same faith, the faith of the ruler. The protestant reformation was both a reform movement in the church and a rebellion against government. It resulted in separation of church and state in which citizens could hold different faiths than rulers. In 9 days United States citizens go to the polls. Many are Christians. Many are not. We live in a pluralistic land. May we bring reformation to government by bringing Christian principles to our voting. And may the principles of God’s kingdom be thoroughly applied to all area of governance; protection of country from foes without, protection of the vulnerable within, earth stewardship, marriage, etc. . . . . We are not voting to force all to be Christian, but we are voting to bring principles of justice and human worth to this land. All this amounts to voting a very certain way. We must cast our vote for _______TBA____________.

For many of us, there are days that it feels like God is working in us and through us. But sometimes it feels like nothing is happening, and we wonder where God is. Jesus taught that the difference is often not in what God is doing- it’s how we RECEIVE what He’s doing.
