Evan Lazar discusses the latest news from today as starting QB Cam Newton will be out until Thursday: “Due to a misunderstanding about tests conducted away from NFL facilities, and as required by the NFL-NFLPA protocols, Cam will be subject to the five-day entry cadence process before returning to the facility..." (Statement from the Patriots) With Newton out, Mac Jones dominated the starting reps going 17-of-31. Tight End Jonnu Smith and Kicker Nick Folk also returned to practice on Monday.

Bill Belichick spoke to the media this morning and told reporters that players shouldn’t be worrying about if they’re put out with the starters, second team ect.: “worrying about that is a total waste of time and energy.” WR Jakobi Meyers was asked about having a legit field-stretcher in Nelson Agholor, “I love it.” Says it helps both himself and Kendrick Bourne get open. RB Sony Michel told Evan Lazar he feels “more comfortable” as a receiver this season. The Kristian Wilkerson Hype train also seems to be coming to a halt as he keeps on dropping passes in practice.

Evan Lazar discusses the latest news from Day 1 of Patriots joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles. Newton was 13-of-21 in competitive team drills against the Eagles starters. Newton told reporters after practice that Bill Belichick has yet to name a starter for Week 1. Rookie QB Mac Jones lit up the first half of practice but cooled off in the second half. Mac was 17-of-25 in competitive team drills against the Eagles second team. Lawrence Guy & Tre Nixon missed practice. Jonnu Smith did not participate while Hunter Henry participated in early drills. Matt Lacosse took a hard hit and exited practice.

Bill Belichick spoke to the media and told reporters Kicker Quinn Nordin has "improved but still has a long way to go." He also talk about Defensive Tackle Carl Davis and said "he fits into our defensive system,". David Andrews, Hunter Henry, and Joe Cardona missed practice while Nelson Agholor returned. Hunter Henry could miss up to a week with a shoulder issue. He will not play in the pre-season opener.

Wide Receiver N'Keal Harry has very good at camp so far and had a highlight reel catch from Cam Newton today. N'Keal told reporters: “I just want to prove the people who continue to support me right.”... "It's all coming together at this point."  Ted Karras and Devin Asiasi returned but Hunter Henry and David Andrews left practice due to injuries.

It was a light practice but undrafted Kicker Quinn Nordin from Michigan was the start of the show. Nordin went 10/10 on Friday night. Nick Folk may have some competition in the undrafted kicker Dont'a Hightower also spoke to reporters he’s enjoyed every hard day of training camp practice and his return has felt like a second chance.
