  • 1100+ downloads, my first giveaway, and a Poem!!

1100+ downloads to date! Thank you all for the incredible support. It is definitely appreciated. I also have my first giveaway. The first person to comment on this post with your email, tell me what you like about the podcast, and I will mail the scanner to you (U.S. residents only please). It is a Socket 7Ci Scanner, it works just fine, but does have some cosmetic wear. See pics of the scanner on the blog for this particular post. I originally used it with Asellertool's FBAScan.

Moving forward most of the music made on the podcast and vlog will be produced by myself. I've been toying with Isequence on the iPad. It's made by Beepstreet and works tremendously. I'm still learning how to use it.

Another podcast change...episodes will be shorter. The maximum length being 20 minutes. Between a full time job and editing podcasts, episodes are taking longer to be published. I'd like to speed that up and get it out to you loyal listeners sooner rather than later.

I apologize for the audio quality on some of the previous episodes as it hasn't been consistent. I am working on improving that.

What is this podcast/blog about exactly? With several episodes in I'm finding my groove. This podcast has:

    • an entrepreneurial slant.
    • a self development slant.
    • a (artistic)creation slant.
    • an education slant.

On this podcast I have and will continue to do:

    • movie reviews.
    • DJ mixes.
    • biggest takeaways from books read.
    • podcast and video recommendations
    • talk about my dreams, aspirations, inspirations, wins and fails.

I was thinking about doing TV show reviews, but I'm trying to watch less TV and listen to more podcasts.

My dream is to make a living from this podcast/blog. My long term goals.

    1. Make anywhere from $4000-5000 per month. This is all I would need to live comfortably.
    2. Move away from the northeast for the winter months.
    3. Have a laptop lifestyle where I can do this business from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection.

That's its. Reading Ramit Sethi's Ramit Sethi's 'The Ultimate Guide to Working from Home' , coaching may be a step in that direction. We shall see what time tells. Either way I'd like to hear from you. You my dear listener is where the power lies. You will dictate to me what it is that you want from me and I will try my best to service that need.

I'm very much in an artistic space right now. Creating gives me life and is one of the reasons I think I'll be able to do this podcast/blog for some time to come. Lately I've been taking loads of pictures and some video. I put out a vlog recently that has some memories from this past summer, you can see that here.

Speaking of vlogging, I dread the winter months due to the weather. Watching a recent Casey Nesitat video may of changed my mind a bit. In the video, a bad rainstorm approaches. He puts on some slippers and a garbage bag and runs out into the rain to grab footage(for his vlog)! I thought, I can do that. I'm looking forward to bad weather days.

Finally, I've written a poem! It's called 'Hector loved himself way too much!' I will be making a separate blog post for that bit of content.

  • Dating Time!

After a year and 8 months, I've decided to begin dating again. I'm missing intimacy in my life, and it would be nice to meet someone. Some days I'd love to be in a relationship, others I'm OK with being single. In this episode I ask if more of us should stay in the dating space rather than be in a relationship. People's needs and wants change over time, doesn't this make them want different people? Is it what has the divorce rate so high across the world?

I also detail what I'm looking for in a person. Someone with similar interests and direction would be the dream scenario. Also someone into health and fitness as I spend a lot of my time focusing in those areas. No smokers, social drinkers are OK. Finally no rushing into things, which I've been guilty of doing so in the past.

Would love to hear what your opinion, thoughts. Please comment on the blog.

  • My Biggest Takeaways from the book 'Stop Chasing Influencers'

Admittedly I've tried to seek out people to interview for this podcast/blog. Selfishly thinking that if I interviewed these people that would bring more subscribers and downloads. People in my eyes, who I considered influencers, role models. People whom have inspired me and continue to do so. They would agree to do the podcast, I offered to work around their schedule. After that they wouldn't either respond or have to reschedule without actually rescheduling.

Listening to a recent podcast episode from Dave Jackson's School Of Podcasting (click here to hear the episode) and reading this book ('Stop Chasing Influencers' by Kimanzi Constable & Jared Easley) seems like serendipity. In the podcast, Dave talks about how we (podcasters) chase that elusive interview that we hope will bring us some major attention. In many cases, that unicorn interview doesn't have much of an effect on downloads at all. In his interview with Dave Hooper; they discuss Mr. Hooper's podcast style. He basically talks and give a lesson in the end.

Reading this book, in conjunction with hearing this podcast has shown me the light. I will continue to build this thing known as pvpfromnj.com, and when you the reader/listener/viewer and I begin having a conversation about what it is you like, then I will bring you more of that. I'm here to express myself on this blog and also service you with this material in any way I can. With all this said, I may not be chasing as many interviews moving forward.

This book, similar to Rachel Jonat's Do less book, where you can find my biggest takeaways for that here, has a load of actionable steps. How to go about getting booked for speaking, TV. How to go about guest posting on websites with large followings. How to become a coach, book your own conference and much more.

My biggest takeaways from this book doesn't cover these areas, but more of the stories and point of views from the authors. Here they are.

    • 'Our advice is to save your money and focus on building traffic and email subscribers. That's what builds your business to the point that it can support your family.' pg 30
    • 'If your going to buy a program or course, make sure there are live office hours so you can get specific questions answered.' pg 32
    • 'Serve your audience and deliver incredible value. Helping those you serve is what makes you successful.' pg 72
    • 'You are your own key to success, not a shout-out from someone on top. Choose yourself and believe in your success. Success starts with the right mind-set. Success means living a happy life.' pg 74
    • 'There's no need to chase influencers; but if you do, just realize it takes time and work.' pg 173
    • 'To be successful in anything, you have to pay your dues. Don't be like everyone else looking for a shortcut.' pg 173
    • 'Yes, most people do give up, but you don't have to be most people.' pg 186
    • 'Instead of focusing on the big changes you want to make, focus on waking up and doing what you have to do that day. As you take it one day at a time, you'll look up after a while and realize you're there.' pg 191

By purchasing this book through my amazon link you will be supporting the authors and myself. What were your biggest takeaways from what I've mentioned? Have your read this book? Your thoughts, please comment on the blog.
