  • Secret Life Of Pets Movie Review. Spoilers!

This post does have affiliate links.

The number #1 movie in the box office for the last two weekends (from the date this is published). From the creators of the Despicable Me series (Illumination Entertainment)comes the Secret Life of Pets.

This was a very enjoyable film with a lot of heart and beautiful animation. There were some story beats and that weren't fully developed and were convenient at time but an overall fun movie.

My overall score is 7/10. On this episode I have a special guest, Sonya. Her overall score is 6.5/10.

We go a little more in depth in this episode. Give it a listen.

Did you see Secret Life of Pets? What did you think?

Here are some other movies by Illumination Entertainment.

    1. Minions (2015)

    2. Despicable Me (2010)

    3. Despicable Me 2 (2013)

    4. The Lorax (2012)

    5. Hop (2011)

  • My Biggest Takeaways from Chris Lee's 'Transform Your Life'

This post does have affiliate links.

I devoured this book! This is bigger than the 'Go-Giver' book (where you can find my takeaway special for that book here), and I went through it so fast. What I mean by that, this is another fantastic book. The sub heading says '10 Principle of Abundance and Prosperity" and this is exactly what the book gives. It's what hooked me from the first chapter.

Chris Lee's 'Transform Your Life'. I heard one of the many podcasts he's done with Lewis Howes on his 'School of Greatness' podcast (Click here to see the YouTube video), loved the interview, and instantly was sold on picking up this book.

Chris Lee's website does have very minimal info on it, but it does include his Twitter and Facebook pages.

These were my biggest takeaways from his book:

    • This is part of a quote by Marianne Williamson right before the table of contents, 'Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness, that frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are we not to be?'
    • 'The next time you're having a moment and realize you're not happy, thinking that life is throwing you a curve ball or that things aren't turning out the way you'd like, remember that you still have something to be grateful for.' pg 16
    • 'When it comes down to it, clearing is really not about the other person. Clearing is about you. It's about you clearing your energy'. pg 31
    • 'Visualization is a very important principle because it allows us to create not just in our minds, but right in front of us in a concrete way. Creating a vision is an effective and powerful way of creating awareness toward our declarations and goals, experiencing and connecting emotionally with them, and then attracting them into our abundant and prosperous life.' pg 58
    • Affirmations. 'It is like making a promise with yourself. Remember, what you think and what you speak creates your reality, so what your doing is creating Kryptonite to the negativity and replacing it with an impenetrable boulder of positivity.' pg 65
    • 'In the confrontation between the stream and the rock, the stream always wins, not through strength, but through persistence.' a quote by H. Jackson Browne in the book in the beginning of chapter 8
    • 'Marriage requires persistence. You make a declaration on your wedding day and choose this life that you want to lead, but if you don't choose that life tomorrow, next year, or ten years from now, the marriage you wanted to create might not be your reality' pg 82
    • 'Surrendering is not resigning. Surrender is flow. It's letting go of self-criticism and judgment. It's trusting that life is as it should be and everything is a blessing. Be in the flow.' pg 96
    • 'If there is going to be love in my life, it is up to me. If I want more enthusiasm in my life it is up to me. If I want joy in my relationships, it is up to me.' pg 104
    • 'I hate to say the words 'get rid of,' because people are not disposable. But I have shifted away from a lot of people in my life who were toxic. Some of them had the biggest breakthroughs because I was no longer available for them. Because of that, they started taking inventory in their lives and they shifted. They had a huge breakthrough, and now they're back in my life, bigger and better than ever before.' pg 115

As you can hear, this material I consider gold. There is much more in the book. If any of this resonated with you, pick up Mr. Lee's book on any of my affiliate links on this page. It will support myself and the author.

Thanks for reading/watching. Which of my takeaways spoke to you the most? Please comment on the blog.

  • Visualization. Inspired by Chris Lee's book 'Transform Your Life'

    Visualization.

This is the audio for my very first vlog for this show. You can see the vlog video here.

In reading Chris Lee's book, his chapter on 'Visualization' very much inspired me. When it comes to attaining a thing, I've often had a very easy time visualizing myself using the thing. How I was going to use it, what for, when.

When it comes to relationships or people I've had a tougher go of it. When it has come to someone I was very attracted to I would visualize the best of the best situations. I'd put the person on a pedestal, it would be a little ridiculous.

It's tough to visualize my goals as well. They change often. The 5 year plan, the 10 year plan. It's tough to think that far ahead, but I know constant action in one thing for that period of time will produce results.

I'm hoping visualization can help me in these two areas.

Click here to check out Chris Lee's Transform Your Life book

What are some examples of how you've used the practice of visualization in your life?

Please comment on the blog or on YouTube.

  • My Biggest Takeaways from Bob Burg's 'The Go-Giver'

There are affiliate links in this post.

I watched Evan Carmicheal's YouTube video called 7 Books Every Entrepreneur Must Read (click here to see the video). This was one of the books on his list.

Bob Burg's and John David Mann's The Go-Giver. I really thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love when lessons are told through a story format. These are my biggest takeaways from this book, page numbers included.

    • Joe drew a breath. "So', he spoke this next thought slowly, thinking it out loud, "you're saying, people don't take advantage of you because you don't expect them to? That because you don't put any focus on selfishness and greed, even when it's all around you, it doesn't have much impact on you?" Then he had a flash of inspiration. "Like a healthy immune system-the disease is all around you, but you don't catch it?' pg 14
    • "All things being equal-" Ernesto finished the phrase: '-people will do business with and refer business to those people they know, like and trust." pg 25
    • 'Your life works the same way," she said. 'You just make it up. Being broke and being rich are both decisions. You make them up, right here." She tapped her finger to her temple. "Everything else is just how it plays out." pg 45
    • 'Watch out for the other guy. Watch out for his interests. Watch his back. Forget about fifty-fifty, son. Fifty-fifty's a losing proposition. The only winning proposition is one hundred percent. Make your win about the other person, go after what he wants. Forget win-win-focus on the other person's win.' pg 63
    • 'Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first.' pg 63
    • "What I'm here to sell you on is you. People, remember this: no matter what your training, no matter what your skills, no matter what area you're in, you are your most important commodity. The most valuable gift you have to offer is you." pg 87
    • "Receiving is the natural result of giving. If you give and then try to stop the receiving that comes back, you're like King Canute watching the tide roll out and commanding it not to come back in." pg 102-103
    • 'Every giving can happen only because it is also a receiving..." pg 103
    • 'So the secret to success,' Joe went on, 'to gaining it, to having it, is to give, give, give. The secret to getting is giving. And the secret to giving is making yourself open to receiving.' pg 105

In reading this book, I literally stopped a few times to simply think. This material I will keep and look over and reference again in the future. This book is a short read and well worth your time.

Not too long ago, I use to love buying/playing video games. Nowadays, books are my new video games. This is something that I never thought would happen. I'm truly digging reading books.

  • Episode#10 Reselling Update

There are affiliate links in this post.

Reading 'The ONE Thing' and Rachel Jonat's 'Do Less' have inspired me to stop eBay and limit my Amazon FBA business.   Possibly stopping that altogether as well.

You can read/hear/watch my biggest takeaways from Ms. Jonat's book on the blog here.

Both of these books have made me realize that I want to solely focus on the podcast. It's what fulfills me.   It's not a third party platform which I have to keep feeding.

With eBay I didn't like the hoarding aspect.   I'd always have a pile of stuff to list, and in my small studio apartment, that pile looked disgusting to me.

Amazon FBA was great as it eliminated any piles, as I would just ship everything to one of their warehouses, but I was spending more money than I was making on a regular basis.

The podcast sparks my creativity and it's my own thing.   It does not require a large money commitment.   This July marks one year since I began podcasting.  I initially started it to build a following and make this another revenue source.   Especially at a time when I was reselling full time and financially struggling.

The podcast has not generated any money yet but it's given me an opportunity to speak with some of you and that alone has been incredible.   You never think people will reply to something you put out into the world.   The podcast has also allowed me to speak with people who've inspired me and whom I enjoy talking to.

My hopes are to serve you, pass on information, entertain, and teach whatever I know that can help you.

This podcast as of this writing is almost up to 600 downloads..incredible!  Thank you!

Gary Keller & Jay Papasan say in the very beginning of their book(mentioned above), 'chasing two rabbits you catch none'.   I've made money with eBay and Amazon FBA and have enjoyed my time on both platforms.   Revisiting them down the road is not out of the realm of possibility.   With your help, I'm going to build this podcast and make this my 'one thing'.
