Governor Brian Kemp has extended the fuel tax rollback, keeping the pump prices steady.
Until November 29th, motorists will continue enjoying a break of 31.2 cents per gallon on gasoline and 35 cents per gallon on diesel.
The governor's decision, allowed during emergencies, awaits approval from state lawmakers. The special legislative session, initially scheduled for January 8th, has been bumped up to November 29th. The big question remains: will the tax relief hit the brakes or cruise into the new year? We’ll see.

As the season changes, a warning for Georgia drivers: the risk of colliding with deer is on the rise.
The state's wildlife resources division emphasizes the dangers during mating season, which lasts until December. Deer are more active now, increasing the likelihood of collisions, especially during dawn and dusk.
Stay vigilant, scan roadsides, and remember, if a collision is unavoidable, hitting the brakes is safer than swerving.

A big congratulations to Kyri's Kookies! The local shop has secured a spot on Oprah Winfrey's much-coveted Favorite Things list for 2023. Dr. Kyri Mosley's indulgent creations, including chocolate chunk and Georgia pecan turtle cookies, have earned praise from the media mogul.
Oprah says the founder promises a hug in every bite, and she's not wrong.
Dr. Mosley, a former medical professional, found solace in baking during challenging times, following a divorce and a battle with Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma. Her journey from chemotherapy to remission led to a passion for baking, and the cookies that once comforted her medical teams are now delighting taste buds nationwide.
You can grab these delectable treats online at kyriskookies.com or in the heart of Dallas, where the first brick-and-mortar store opened its doors in December of last year.

Rick Quiggle writes: Are there any bars in Paulding? or even those hole in the wall places.
Sandi Curtis Goodell responded with - There’s 278 South and Hiram Station, but most of the bigger chain restaurants such as Chili’s and O’Charley’s have a bar area, so there are plenty of choices.
Jen Davenport then corrected Sandi by telling her Hiram Station has been closed for a minute.
Paul Samples said Just drive down 278. Plenty. The Place, Buffalos, BWW, Hooters. You name it they gonna have a bar. You want a hole in the wall drive out Buchanan Hwy to Pats aka the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar.
Weird Story
Dana Rice, a Maryland realtor, has become an internet sensation after her husband created a Taylor Swift jar at home.
The jar requires Dana to drop in a quarter each time she mentions the pop icon or her beau, Travis Kelce. The Taylor Swift jar and its video has attracted over 9.8 million views on Instagram.
Despite Dana’s fandom for the Washington Commanders, Taylor Swift's influence has even sparked interest in the Kansas City Chiefs, of course where Kelce plays. The "Taylor Swift Jar" has now become a permanent household fixture for the couple.
Dana says she’ll use the money collected for … what else? Taylor Swift tickets.

Walmart is making shopping a more inclusive and comfortable experience. The nation's largest retailer has just announced "sensory-friendly" shopping hours, available every day across their stores nationwide.
Earlier this summer, Walmart tested sensory-friendly hours during back-to-school season, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. During these hours, stores will transform into a calm and soothing environment by changing TV walls to static images, turning off the radio, and dimming the lights where possible.
Starting this Friday, all Walmart stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico will offer sensory-friendly hours from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with plans to continue indefinitely.
Walmart joins a growing list of retailers, performance venues, and attractions that are now offering sensory-friendly adjustments to cater to those with autism and other sensory-sensitive conditions.

Story 5:State Georgia lawmaker proposes paying teachers $10K to carry guns in school
A proposal in Georgia is aiming to offer teachers a stipend of $10,000 per year if they voluntarily undergo firearms courses and carry guns in schools. Proponents argue that this would enhance classroom safety, while critics express concerns that it could escalate tense situations. State Senator Clint Dixon introduced the bill, with Lt. Gov. Burt Jones supporting the idea. Those against the bill, like Willgina Montgomery, worry about the potential risks of arming teachers and the decision-making process in high-stress situations. The bill stipulates that school systems must approve a gun-training program before allowing teachers to carry firearms. Representative Lucy McBath criticized the proposal, advocating for more conventional means of supporting teachers…… This from Fox 5

Story 6: Weird News: Bale of straw hanging from London's Millennium Bridge as part of 'quirky tradition'
A bale of straw is hanging from London's Millennium Bridge as part of an ancient tradition and London byelaw. The tradition serves a practical purpose by warning river traffic of maintenance and repair work on the bridge. The bridge will be closed until November 5 for cleaning and the replacement of a membrane layer. When work is being conducted under the bridge, the straw bundle is lowered to alert traffic on the Thames to the reduction in headroom. This quirky tradition, which dates back centuries, is mentioned in the Port of London Thames Byelaws and helps fulfill a safety requirement. London's many historical byelaws also include regulating kite flying and rug beating in public thoroughfares.

Paulding County, Ga’s Facebook posted Recently, the Board of Commissioners awarded the Seven Hills Boulevard Widening project to CW Matthews with a completion date of September of 2023. The project includes widening the existing road from two lanes to four lanes, with a raised center median and sidewalks along both sides of the road. A dual lane roundabout will be installed at the intersection of Seven Hills Boulevard / Blackberry Run Drive / Bentleaf Drive. The project limits are from the north end of the bridge over Little Pumpkinvine Creek to Cedarcrest Road.
It is intended that the contractor will begin staking the working limits and installing the erosion control measures necessary for the project construction starting the week of September 27, 2021. Mid-October, the contractor plans to begin construction activities, such as clearing and grading (removal of trees, fencing, etc). Within the first half of 2022, the widening along with pavement rehabilitation is tentatively scheduled to begin. This work will utilize flaggers, may cause delays, will include shifting travel patterns and lanes, and could be a semi-rough ride until the final layer is laid through the project limits. Updates will be shared periodically during the project construction. Please note, that weather is always a concern and could impact work at times and schedules.

Weird news:
In Savannah, Georgia, a man named Connor Cato got quite the shock when he received a $1.4 million speeding ticket. However, city officials clarified that this eye-popping figure was just a placeholder and not the actual fine. Connor had been pulled over for driving at 90 mph in a 55 mph zone, a significant violation. When he called the court, they informed him it was no mistake, and he'd have to pay it or go to court in December. In Savannah, if you're caught driving more than 35 mph above the speed limit, you have to appear in court, where the judge determines the real fine. So, Connor won't actually have to pay that enormous sum; the actual fine can't exceed $1,000, plus state-mandated costs. The city is also working on fixing the placeholder language to avoid any confusion.

Sheri Kennedy Wickline originally from California “I want to make you all aware of the very RUDE, NASTY pharmacy manager at the Rome Walmart! I had taken my prescription to the pharmacy week ago. They told me it would be next Tuesday, it would be ready to pick up. Well they made a mistake ordering and my RX got put on hold! I asked…. was someone going to call me? Pharmacy reply..that not my job! She raises her voice at me and said that I was to call before coming to the store! I was a bit miffed but replied…I can’t go shopping and stop by to see if it was ready to pick up? As I was talking everyone was talking over me which made me raise my voice. The pharmacist hollers at me and said…I’m giving you back your RX and told me to find and other pharmacies! She said I was disrupting HER business 3 time in a loud voice over her counter and she said she will never fill my RX!!! This was there fault that they can’t fill RX correctly. I went to the manager and she when went to the pharmacist and she came back to said she was sorry but she refuses to fill my RX. PLEASE BEWARE this pharmacist. She used her privilege to refuse serving me because of there mistake! Just a side note.. everyone in the pharmacy was in shock! So was I!!!”
These are your responses from actual Paulding County citizens - as reported on What's Happening Paulding County
Sean Spratt from Cartersville “Makes sense to post all of this here where nothing can be accomplished except getting your anger validated vs just contacting Walmart to see if your Rx issue can be resolved.”
Sherry Thompson Hullett from Temple “If you have her name call Walmart’s corporate office and report her.”
Chani Ford from Atlanta “It's not her pharmacy, for one. Leave negative reviews and file a complaint with BBB
You can also file a complaint with corporate. There is plenty you can do, it just takes a little work”
Gail Oneal from Bowdon “You people are so ridiculous.
Your comments are so immature.”
From the moms of Paulding, Georgia Facebook page:
Jenna Viehmeyer originally from New Jersey “Hey mamas! Does anyone know if the Paulding PD or FD can help moms with getting a car seat? Im 4 weeks away from my scheduled C-section & hubs and I have honestly been struggling to get everything we need for this baby given the fact weve got two toddlers growing like weeds already at home, and the cost of everything going up by the month it feels like; and the car seat has been the biggest of my worries cause its one of the 'big purchases' we need to get. When we lived down south the PD got us set up with one for my oldest as hers was in an accident, so I was curious to know if paulding offers it anywhere. Thanks in advance everyone!”
Others commented:
Krista Jennifer Cotton from Hiram “I have an infant car seat with no base”
Rachel Bassett from Dallas “Please make sure if you accept a car seat from somebody or purchase one from somebody that it is not expired “
Jennifer Andrew from Hiram “I don't believe most PD or FD departments do car seat checks anymore unless they have a staff member who is CPST certified. Otherwise, it's a huge liability for them if the install is incorrect.
You could check here to find a CPST near you.

Kayla Danielle Reagin from Dallas “I believe the GA state patrol office can help or at least they do in Bartow County. My scheduled c section is October 31st so I'm a little behind too and still haven't done it. Walmart does have one for around $60 if all else fails.”
