Pencil Us In

Here's the final episode of Kung Fu Month with Shang Chi!  We break down his origins and influences!  We talk about some creators!  We even discuss...uh...some not so great stuff!

We here at Pencil Us In often lean heavily on the publications of TwoMorrows Publishing.  This is no exception!  Check out these books for what I read!

Alter Ego (TwoMorrows Publishing): 146
Back Issue (TwoMorrows Publishing): 26
Comic Book Artist (TwoMorrows Publishing): 7
Comic Book Creator (TwoMorrows Publishing): 27

What comics did we cover for our topic?  Take a look!

Master of Kung Fu (Marvel): 29-50
You'll note that we didn't start from the beginning here.  We also left out the Giant-Size and Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu stuff.  I really just wanted Su to read the Gulacy material.  Honestly, the stuff that came before is, at least in my opinion, not worth much of anybody's time anyway.  You may disagree, but that's just how I feel.

Thanks for listening!

In which we discuss a pretty darn obscure character!  The supporting cast (maybe minus poor Ben Jr) is more famous than the main character!  It's a heck of a book, though!  Join us as we journey way back in to the 70s (again!) to see everyone kung fu fighting!

We  read a cool magazine with articles and stuff!  Wanna know which one?

Back Issue (TwoMorrows Publishing): 49
(I'd just like to point out that this article, too, was pretty vague on details of how this book came out as well.  I think that O'Neil might've been quiet about it because of rights issues he never worked out.  I don't really know.  Anyway, the comics still happened!  Read 'em if you can!)

It's the start of Kung Fu Month! To celebrate, we're bringing you the story of a boy who turns into a girl when he gets wet. It's Ranma 1/2!  There's also like a Panda and and a cat and a pig and some other stuff.  Get excited!

See  you next time when the links really will be sparse!

Hey, it's the end of Bad Girls Month and we're ending with the Black Cat!  Ripoff of our somewhat more famous female feline felon??  Maybe not!  Maybe somewhat?  Anyway, listen and find out!

Phil here:  Hopefully you enjoyed Bad Girl month!  I learned a few things.  What about you?  I didn't do extensive reading for this particular episode as I figured I would have enough from just one source plus some background I already knew.  So learn from what I learned from!  Also, just stay away from ladies with cat motifs.

We read some cool magazines with articles and stuff!  Wanna know which ones?

Back Issue Magazine (TwoMorrows Publishing): 40
This provided some basic info on the Black Cat plus a little behind-the-scenes stuff.  I continue to love this magazine.

And Bad Girl month continues!  Happy uh...bad girling?  Anyway, we continue with a lady not quite as deadly as the last topic but she is somewhat less naked!  I'm not sure why this is something I had to talk about!  Let's talk about Catwoman!  Specifically her turn-of-the-century run given to us by Darwyn Cooke and Ed Brubaker!

Catwoman vol 3 (DC): 1-10

Catwoman: Selina's Big Score (DC)

In which we discuss everyone's favorite often-naked assassin, Lady Snowblood!  We talk about the history of the creators and then maybe a little about the book itself!  Interested??  FIND OUT BY LISTENING!!

We also read some cool magazines with articles and stuff!  Wanna know which ones?

Back Issue (TwoMorrows Publishing): #123

Not the most well-known (despite the "World-Famous" tag Ralph often added to his name) characters.  Still, the people that love them love them very much!  I can see why!  These issues are worth the read at least:

Flash vol 1(DC):  112, 115, 119, 124, 130, 134, 138
Detective Comics (DC):  330-383 (No, I didn't read 50 issues worth of Detective just for Ralph and Sue.  That's ok.  I think you should check 'em all out at some point.  I know I will!)
