Welcome to today’s PEP Talk – I Am – Episode #48.
Our self-talk plays a significant role in how we feel emotionally. If someone is walking around telling herself that she is a “loser” or that she is “always” making mistakes and is “not good enough,” this individual is going to struggle with low self-esteem and self-worth.
Think about it this way…if a child makes a mistake, are you going to berate the child and tell her what a horrible human being she is? No, of course not. Then why do it to yourself? It is important that we encourage ourselves and work to build our self-esteem and self-worth, not tear it down.

As I state in this month’s PEP Talk, it is important for all of us to take ownership of our choices; nonetheless, I find many people get too focused on the word “failure” and lose sight of the wisdom they have gleaned. Just because something does not go as we hoped it would, does not mean it was a failure.

I cannot adequately express in words how powerful I believe this concept is if you choose to apply it to your life.
As I state in the PEP Talk, I honestly believe everything is allowed to happen for a reason. I even believe events that a person may view as “negative” are allowed to occur to serve us in some way.
