Welcome back to Episode 16 of Performax Science Radio.
This week I was fortunate enough to sit down with Athletic Performance Coach Jarrod Bolton.
Jarrod and I went through uni together and have also shared the role of strength and conditioning coaches at Caloundra Rugby Union in 2020 and 2021.
Jarrod has also had the opportunity to intern for a season with the Hurricanes Super Rugby team in New Zealand.
Now Jarrod has his own coaching business, Bolton Sports Performance, where he works with a variety of athletes on the sunshine coast whilst facilitating the Sunshine coast Falcons rehab and strength and conditioning programs.
Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jarrod to chat shop and gain his unique insights on the S&C landscape. We discussed a variety of topics, including:
Traditional Education pathways vs non traditional pathways for learning
- The right way to go about working with Athletes post grad
- The current social media landscape of S&C
- The people Jarrod looks up to in the industry and how have they shaped his coaching philosophy
- Fragile vs Anti Fragile coaching systems
- Should athletes be training Full ROM or more joint angle specific to the needs of their sport?
- How much emphasis should we allocate to speed development in our training week
- How to navigate the "evidence based" landscape of S&C in an ever changing environment?
We hope you enjoy this week's episode and gain some valuable insights from Jarrod's experience in the field.
