With temperatures set to rise close to 100 degrees over the next three days, Philadelphia has declared its first heat health emergency of the year. KYW Newsradio's Nigel Thompson talked to some residents about how they're managing the heat.

On Tuesday, Philadelphia could break or tie the temperature record set in 1923... if, as expected the temperature hits 99 degrees. Triple-A is advising drivers to consider some preventative maintenance... not just with this heat wave in mind, but the rest of the summer too. Jana Tidwell with Triple-A Public Affairs says summer heat threatens your car battery even more than the winter freeze.

Triple-A responded to nearly 98-thousand emergency roadside service calls in Philadelphia and the collar counties last summer. 43-percent of those calls were for dead car batteries and flat tires. You may not give a gasoline fill-up a second thought. But a Temple University alum devoted his doctoral dissertation to how stations appeal to drivers’ senses to sell more than gas.

President Trump described the overnight strikes on Iranian nuclear sites as a "spectacular military success." He warned of "far greater" attacks if Iran does not "make peace."

But hours before those strikes on Iran, local organizations were in Center City calling for the US to stay out of a conflict that was still primarily between Israel and Iran.

The first heat wave of the season will start tomorrow (Sunday), bringing temperatures to near the 100 degree mark for several days in a row.

Health officials are already preparing for the extreme weather and sharing tips on how to stay cool.

The cleanup from Thursday night's storms goes in today.

Trees and power lines were knocked down all over our area, leading to hundreds of thousands of outages.

PECO reports around 53-thousand customers are still without power.

South Broad Street is closed off for most of the day as the Avenue of the Arts plays host to a block party for Wawa Welcome America.

The event includes artists, musicians and food trucks lining the streets.

Music will be running all day with performances from Broadway shows visiting Philly next season along with local musicians and DJs.

Don't worry about the heat. Drinks are available from Chaddsford Winery, Tito's Handmade Vodka, and Casamigos tequila in the beer garden.

And of course Rita's water ice will be available.

There are also spaces for kids, animal lovers, and soccer fans. Sesame Place will be giving away books, and the Philadelphia Union are raffling off a signed jersey.
