• The former Philadelphia police officer who shot and killed Eddie Irizarry has had a first degree murder charge against him tossed. 
• The 61-year-old pastor of the church that holds services at The Met in North Philadelphia will spend at least 5-years in prison after being sentenced for sexually assaulting three children. 
• Tropical Storm Debby is now moving through the Southeast, and is expected to cause heavy rains and potential flash floods in our region. FEMA officials talks about what to expect locally.
• After 11 seasons in the NFL, former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles has announced he is retiring.

• A 59-year-old woman was hit by a driver and killed while crossing Broad Street in North Philadelphia overnight. Police say she left a convenience store on North Broad near Grange Avenue and was hit by an SUV while crossing Broad.
• Now that the "veepstakes" is over, it’s back to normal for Gov. Josh Shapiro.
• A Los Angeles County jury has found a man guilty of sending his 17-year-old son to kill Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock.

• Part of a house on Broad Street in the Logan section of North Philadelphia collapsed on Wednesday, displacing 11 residents. No one was hurt, but neighbors were rattled. 
• A driver crashed into the median on Roosevelt Boulevard after he was shot in the chest on Wednesday, police say. Investigators are still looking for a suspect.
• New teachers in the School District of Philadelphia reported to the School of the Future in West Philadelphia on Wednesday to begin a week of orientation.
• A Bucks County Little League team is one game away from making it to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

• A man is found dead inside his crashed vehicle along a stretch of the Roosevelt Blvd extension in North Philadelphia Wednesday afternoon. KYW’s John McDevitt reports police say the victim suffered a gunshot wound and the publics help is needed in finding the shooter.
• The Fire Department says close to a dozen people were displaced after a partial house collapse in North Philadelphia. As KYW’s Nina Baratti tells us, luckily nobody was hurt but neighbors are rattled.
• Newly-hired Philadelphia school teachers have started orientation. We get the story from KYW education reporter Mike DeNardo.
• Rain was falling again in South Jersey just hours after crews worked to assist people affected by flooding in neighborhoods along the Delaware River. KYW South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty tells us officials are asking people to avoid driving tonight if possible.

• The FBI is searching for a man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl at a YMCA swimming pool in Wilmington, Delaware earlier this summer. Feds are offering a $5,000 reward for his capture.
• Two men from Nigeria are charged with sexually extorting a Philadelphia-area college student who killed himself when the men allegedly kept asking for money he didn’t have.
• A former Philadelphia teacher accused of trying to solicit pictures and a sexual relationship from a teenage girl pleaded guilty to a single charge on Tuesday in a deal with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.
• The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office has its first K9 officer, and he’s already making a big impact.

• After VP Kamala Harris tapped Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro played gracious host for their first public campaign appearance together before a packed house at the Liacouras Center in North Philadelphia.
• Republican vice presidential hopeful JD Vance made a campaign stop in South Philadelphia hours before Kamala Harris' rally. He criticized the Biden-Harris administration on a variety of domestic and international issues, including the cost of living, crime and immigration.
• The Philadelphia Parking Authority is doubling its yearly fees for parking in residential neighborhoods.
• A number of National Night Out events were held in Philadelphia and across our region to help engage in the community and build positive relationships.
• A special STEM program taking place at Drexel University is helping young women break into the field.

• Two men from Nigeria are charged with sexually extorting a Philadelphia-area college student who killed himself when the men allegedly kept asking for money he didn’t have. KYW Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert reports.
• One of the men charged in the shooting at a Northeast Philly bus stop that injured eight students earlier this year, has pleaded guilty to some of the charges — as the rest of the defendants await their day in court.
• The Feds are looking for a man they say raped a little girl at a YMCA pool in Wilmington, Delaware — and they are offering a $5,000 reward for his arrest. KYWs Crime and Justice reporter Kristen Johanson has the details.
