The People You Meet – Some of the coolest people I’ve ever met, I’ve met because of photography. That is such a side benefit I never considered when I first got started with photography.
That’s a very cool thing that photography gives to us. We have a camera and a legitimate reason to get out there and meet and photograph very cool people. Maybe even make new friends for life.
In this episode I’ll share the story of an unexpected adventure I experienced out on the coast back in December. I met a very cool cat named Bill.

There are many times when I will think to myself, “I believe I was born about 50 years too late.” Don’t get me wrong; it’s not that I don’t appreciate the times that I do live in and the things that exist today that weren’t even thought of back in the mid-twentieth century. But when it comes to music, photography, style, aesthetics and craftsmanship… man, there is something to be said for the way we used to do things. When I refer to…The post Episode 135 – Composition by Feel appeared first on Photography Matters.

Portland, Oregon. This is my favorite city I’ve ever lived in. I lived there from fall of ’82 to the fall of ’97. It rained most of the time I was there. Okay, maybe not most of the time… …it rained a lot.But you know what? That shows how cool this town is. In spite o the amount of rain and gloomy overcast days, I stayed for 15 years, and still miss it today.I love the architecture; the people (some of the most creative people I’ve ever…The post Episode 133 – 2024… Wrap It Up appeared first on Photography Matters.
This conversation has been happening ever since digital cameras started to evolve into some pretty incredible machines. But as amazing as digital can be, how does it now compare to shooting film.
I’ll share my recent thoughts on this over-talked-about topic.

What is your favorite focal length? I bounce back and forth between 50 and 35. I think I’ll stick with 50mm for a while and I’ll tell you my reasons why.
Also A.I. – We are seeing it creep more and more into the photography space. Lot’s to talk about here. Too much to cover in one episode, but I’ll share a few of my thoughts on A.I. and how it can affect your future as a photographer.

So… a few things have changed since the previous episode (if anyone can remember that). In a spur-of-the-moment decision, I packed up, left Las Vegas and moved back to the Northwest. Man, it’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time. I’ll talk about the move and what preceded it, and how I’m so much looking forward to my future of photography (and everything) being back home.
