Passion… Passion and creativity are the most driving forces of my life. It’s been that way since I was a kid. IMHO I think the more you focus your photography on what you’re passionate about, you’ll come away with the strongest, most powerful images you can make. How important is that!? I’ll talk abou that.
I also share my favorite photography podcasts with you. Cool people out there.
Enjoy.

Mindful Photography – it’s a term you hear frequently here on the podcast. For me, being a mindful photographer brings the strongest images… stories. Every once in a while, year, there are those Happy Accidents. But it’s when I’ve been mindful of what I’m photographing that I get the best, strongest photos.
Enjoy.

Portland, Oregon. This is my favorite city I’ve ever lived in. I lived there from fall of ’82 to the fall of ’97. It rained most of the time I was there. Okay, maybe not most of the time… …it rained a lot.But you know what? That shows how cool this town is. In spite o the amount of rain and gloomy overcast days, I stayed for 15 years, and still miss it today.I love the architecture; the people (some of the most creative people I’ve ever…The post Episode 125 – Mindful Photography appeared first on Photography Matters.
Warning: Soap Box Edition. In tonight’s episode I’ll talk about an approach to freeing up your mind to be able to create more from emotion… less from an intellectual perspective; maybe a way to create images with more feel. Maybe to create more with abandonment and more often. Just one guy’s approach. See what you think about it.
Enjoy.

There are many times when I will think to myself, “I believe I was born about 50 years too late.” Don’t get me wrong; it’s not that I don’t appreciate the times that I do live in and the things that exist today that weren’t even thought of back in the mid-twentieth century. But when it comes to music, photography, style, aesthetics and craftsmanship… man, there is something to be said for the way we used to do things. When I refer to…The post Episode 122 – Your Photography Web Presence – Part III appeared first on Photography Matters.

I saw an interesting video from Jamie Windsor on YouTube a while back. The topic was photographer, Nan Goldin. Fantastic photographer, definitely one of my favorite. Could her photos be assessed as Technically perfect? Nope. It’s actually the “imperfections” that add a lot of mood and feel to the photos.
In this episode I’ll talk about Wabi Sabi, embracing imperfection in your artwork. Just my 2 cents.
Enjoy.
