Do you know, or are you, yourself, a photographer who doesn’t really want to study other photographer’s work? Some feel it could influence them too much? I’ve heard that kind of thing from time to time.
Also, since we’ve been talking about selling your prints or books lately, I’ve got a little bit more to say on that subject. I know, shocker, huh.
I’ll share my 2 cents on these topics. Enjoy.

There are many times when I will think to myself, “I believe I was born about 50 years too late.” Don’t get me wrong; it’s not that I don’t appreciate the times that I do live in and the things that exist today that weren’t even thought of back in the mid-twentieth century. But when it comes to music, photography, style, aesthetics and craftsmanship… man, there is something to be said for the way we used to do things. When I refer to…The post Photography Matters Ep 98 – DNA & Are Your Photos Good Enough appeared first on Photography Matters.
I know we all have our favorite cameras. I’ll talk about mine and reasons why they are my favorites. Also want to let you know about a reasonably new podcast out there. It’s called Create.Photography and its host is photographer, Daniel Sigg. I was recently on an episode with Daniel. Great guy. (good photographer, too!) I’ll share that episode with you (link in the post). Enjoy.

I’ve been getting out with my camera a bit more these days. Just wanted to share a recent experience that inspired a new project.
Also have a couple items about Leica gear. Helpful stuff if it applies to you.
Enjoy.
All photos shot with my Leica M262 and Summicron 50mm. All of them came from the Leica JPEG files, most sooc.

Are you one of those photographers who always carry a camera with you? I mean a proper camera, not your phone. (although the cameras on our phones are becoming freakishly good) I’ll share my 2 cents on the topic. Enjoy

Las Vegas, Nevada is, in many ways, a very unique place. That’s actually kind of an understatement. But we’ll leave it at that for now. This is a 24 hour town. During the day it’s bright and bustling with life; people who have come to visit and play. But to me, Vegas is most interesting after the sun goes down. There’s a completely different vibe to the place. It’s darker; it’s sexier and there is definitely more of an element of mystery.…The post INSPIRED – Episode 48 – Do You Always Carry? appeared first on Photography Matters.
In recent video I uploaded to YouTube I talk about the concept of selling prints from your website. I thought I’d talk a little be more on that subject. Enjoy

Portland, Oregon. This is my favorite city I’ve ever lived in. I lived there from fall of ’82 to the fall of ’97. It rained most of the time I was there. Okay, maybe not most of the time… …it rained a lot.But you know what? That shows how cool this town is. In spite o the amount of rain and gloomy overcast days, I stayed for 15 years, and still miss it today.I love the architecture; the people (some of the most creative people I’ve ever…The post INSPIRED – Episode 47 – Are You Printing? In 1998 at age 90, the photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, who swore by his Leica, said to Helmut Newton: “sharpness is a bourgeois concept.” Bourgeois means wealth without taste.
That’s one of my favorite photography quotes. “sharpness is a bourgeois concept.” I’ll share my two cents on the subject. Enjoy.

I think I remember doing an episode on this topic before, but I was recently asked by another photographer if they should start a podcast or do a YouTube channel. I’ll give my 2 cents on the subject. Enjoy.

I watched a YouTube video this morning from photographer, Thomas Heaton. Great photographer, great youtube channel. He was expressing his concerns about the idea of AI software doing the post processing of your images. I’ll give you my 2 cents on that. Enjoy.

An idea had come to me today, and I think it might be a good one. An exercise that can help strengthen my storytelling muscle. Then I thought, why keep this to myself? Might as well share it with you and see if maybe this would sound interesting to you.
