PiCast Episode 29 - Magic

Scott and Brittany saw Magician, Comedian, Cupcake Wars host and all around nice guy, Justin Willman at the American Comedy Company in San Diego last night. He was even cool enough to lend his voice to the intro of this episode all about Magic! We first met Justin at Wondercon after the Nerdist Panel where he talked magic with Brittany and even offered to invite us to the magnificent Magic Castle in LA. We tell (or retell) that story and how much we enjoyed the Magic Castle on this episode too. In Fact, Justin will be performing there June 27th to July 3rd 2016. If you can see him live, do it! PiCast Episode 27 - Nashlanta

Scott and Brittany went to Nashville and Atlanta over Mother’s Day Weekend. This episode is posting a week later because we went to WhedonopolisCon when we got back and wanted to tell you all about that too!

We started the Nashville leg of the trip at Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack. It was Amazing! No relation to the recently lost musical genius. RIP.

Speaking of Prince, someone must have heard us mention the unopened Purple Rain album Scott regretted not buying in LA because someone sent the next best thing as an anonymous gift, the Purple Rain LASERDISC unopened! So whoever you are, THANK YOU! This piece of Prince history will be a treasured possession.

We hung out in Brittany’s Cousin and sister’s place and Scott May have Bare Assed the furnature while editing the PiCast

We also at at Jack’s BBQ in downtown Nashville while visiting friends and family. Did you know there are lots of classic cars there? If you are in the market, go pick up your 57 Chevy or Smokey and the Bandit Firebird.

From Nashville we drove with Scott’s sister to Georgia for a Mother’s Day memorial for their mom and a mini family reunion in and about Zebulon and Griffin just south of Atlanta. We went to Scott’s Great Grandparents house and the local church and cemetery where Scott’s relatives go back generations.

Brittany learned a few new Southern Expressions.

We visited the Georgia Aquarium and Little Five Points, including a Coronary Bypass Burger at the Vortex.

With one quick Stop at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, we were heading home. A whirlwind weekend in Music city and Hotlanta.

PiCast Episode 26 - WhedonopolisCon 2016

Scott and Brittany went to the inaugural WhedonopolisCon in Van Nuys. On this episode we recap our adventures at this great first year convention. Held at the Airtel Hotel in Van Nuys in support of the Fandom Charities.

Friday started off with a work meeting for Scott that left some LA Shopping time for Brittany. She revisited the storefront of Sidecca from Dapper day and made some good purchases.

We talk about the lead up to this con and meeting Organizer Marsia Powers of Whednopolis.com at many other conventions. We compare this con to GallifreyOne.

One highlight were the actors under the make up, Doug Jones and Camden Toy, who interacted with the conventioneers all weekend.

The panels were fun at this con including: Cosplay for all ages with new friends @cosplaymolly, @aunttessieCosplay @KimposterCosplay and Nathan and William, The Buffy 2.0 panel featuring the Sunnydale Study Group @ssgpodcast, and the Conman Panel, Shield and Agent Carter.

We cosplayed Dr. Horrible and Penny on Saturday and Sunday and even danced at the Prom at the Bronze to the sound of the Firefly inspired music of the Falling Stars.

We bought awesome art and merch from cool people like:

@Phrediboy, Mike Collins - @Tiki_Machine, ArtOfDave.com, Kittorma, NerdybutStillGirly.com, MyGeekHusband.etsy.com, GiGiRockets, GeekyBands, DrawPonies, and the Caveman Chronicles.

The Dr. Horrible show was sadly cancelled but we still got to sing along with Once More With Feeling as the con closed Sunday.

PiCast Episode 25 - Civil War and the MCU

We finally saw Captain America : Civil War! I can’t believe we waited so long to see it, but hey, we’ve been pretty busy! Obviously the movie was great. We grabbed Jordan and talked our way through the movie and the entire MCU. Jordan is pretty soft spoken, but we have a good conversation! PiCast Episode 24 - Adoption’s an Option

Scott and Brittany talk about the adoption process and why they decided that adopting children would be the right choice for them. They talk about how they made the decision and their experience so far, including the orientation to the Foster to Adopt program in Riverside County and the classes along the way. Also, getting the house ready for children and all that is involved there.

Brittany also talks about Nia Vardalos’ book Instant Mom. She really enjoyed the book and the positive story about adoption.
