PILLARS PODCAST 🎙

Dune is a movie about life, death, fear and immortality (and I am sure a lot more) -- that is just what I decided to write about/spoke to me to speak to the pen -- I hope you enjoy!

Eric and is brother Alex and father Dickie know restaurants.  It can be sometimes hard for family to get along, furthermore to do business together -- the Heidenberger's defy conventional that wisdom -- in a big way!  The trio have created some of the coolest and iconic spots on both sides of the big bridge -- Bottom Line, Mad Hatter, Starboard, Mango Mike's -- to name four of their score.

Before all of that, Eric and and I go back to Mater Dei and Prep days -- it was good to catch up with an old friend and talk about what he loves to do -- put fire in the bellies of good people and smiles on faces!

Happy Black Friday -- whatever that means!

Thanks, Eric!

THE MAD HATTER

I call Devin -- "MADMAN" -- mostly because I have always been mad about how cool Devin Madden is -- kinda period, full-stop.  Devin and I talked long and hard about life -- gee-golly -- it was such a treat to talk with an old friend   Love you all.

This is a story about a story that is the movie, Hereditary.  As I put pen to paper, my thoughts and emotions abruptly turned to my own hereditary, the cross-roads I am at in life, and my late father.

I hope you enjoy this little Sunday sampler!!!

Happy Thanksgiving -- oh, yes, it has begun!!!

Kristi and I shared an apartment building (along with many others) and got to know each other about a decade ago.  Kristi is an entrepreneur, starting her own dog walking business and now recruiting firm.  We talk about this some, but mostly about life.  We go deep and we go long -- 2.5 hours -- my longest podcast by far -- and I am proud of that because I am finding my rhythm and Kristi was such a pleasant presence.  I hope you enjoy as much as we did (but that probably won't happen -- the as much as we did part, but I hope it is close).

Thanks, Kristi!

KLDean Recruiting And More!!!

Brendan and I went to high school together at Georgetown Prep, our paths diverged, and now we converge.  Brendan did $100 million plus of loan production last year.  I am not totally sure what that number means, but I do know that 100 is a good grade and put million behind hundred and you've got my attention.  B & I talk about all the stuff and have a ball doing it!

Thanks for tuning in, gang, and if you might be purchasing a home and would like someone who knows the right things to say to banks, Brendan is your man!

MCKAY MORTAGE

BE A MFIN PILLAR!

Tony is my cousin and a marine -- we talk about what it means to be a VET and living your love and to be awesom-er for it!

On any day, on this day, don't miss this message -- I appreciate what you did, Tony and all VETS, and I am so happy to call you a friend!

Happy VETERANS DAY!

The ROBERT in POOR ROBERTS MISSION is BOBBY ABBO -- and I say IS because Bobby is alive in his nephew, ZACH HUKE and POOR ROBERTS MISSON that carries on Bobby's legacy every year and especially during this Thanksgiving season.  Thanksgiving is my favorite and a favorite day for most and I think that is reassuring, inspiring, CORRECT most people's favorite day is all about saying THANK YOU -- it is all about the person that is not YOU!  This is my philosophy and it is the philosophy of Zach Huke who has for 7 years carried on the passion of Bobby and his desire to help those who might need a little help on one of the coolest days of the year -- Thanksgiving.

Zach, you are a busy man doing really good things for your beautiful family and work and POOR ROBERTS MISSION -- thank you for giving me and countless others out there some of your valuable time -- YOU ARE A PILLAR -- for that and for everything else!

NOW -- go and donate, BECAUSE this year it is needed more than ever -- with the price of turkey higher than ever!!  Cheers!

BE A PILLAR!!!

This is the 77 episode of PILLARS -- and sometimes the number doesn’t pop because I like Roman Numberals, which can be helpful.  While processing this podcast, it donned on me that Dave Flynn's number was 77. That might say it all.

This is Tribute Season and for the last 8 years Erin and Brendan have thrown the experience that is Tribute 21 to raise awareness and money for Down Syndrome.  Erin and Brendan have done this to the tune of over half-million dollars -- with everything going exactly where it needs to go -- 26 different non-profits dedicated to improving the lives of Down Syndrome.

Erin talks with courage and conviction about Flynn and I try to keep up. Thanks, Erin, for being you and inspiring us all.

The world kneels before love — it is in awe.

PS — 77 is a coincidence?!

Henry Lynch makes a repeat visit to da PILLARS and we have a ball -- a baseball -- talking about just that.  As the 160 + game season gets shrink-wrapped in the playoffs,  teams must up-shift for success.  Can Dusty Baker do this with the Astros -- and many other looming questions Hank and I tackle as best we can on a rainy Friday morning -- and being that kind of morning -- we lead with KEN BURNS -- and it really doesn't get any better -- I hope you enjoy how we tried to follow that up -- I always do with Henry -- such a sweet, kind, smart human.
