PILLARS PODCAST 🎙

William Keegan & Isaiah Rose are the President and Vice President of the Yard at Georgetown Prep.  They were elected by their peers -- freshman through senior alike.  They understand their responsibility to the the student body of the academy on the Pike.  We talk about that and have a ball doing it -- I hope you enjoy the listen!

Hoyas, Let's Go!!!

Tommy Terry comes from a long line of firefighters — you could say the profession of helping, saving, rescuing — putting out fires is in his blood!  Tommy has been an Annapolis firefighter for mostly all of his adult life and he loves it!  Thank you, Terry, for telling your story; speaking your passion!  And thank you, sir, for doing what you do for all the rest of us — and that goes out to every firefighter — from coast to coast like butter does toast!

GOD BLESS THE USA — and all the men and women who serve our beautiful nation!

🙏🏼 🔥 ❤️

Ryan Sabol & James Gardiner on the hard-court are a dynamic duo — two of the Eagles on Eye Street’s finest — Ryan sets ‘em up; James knocks ‘em down! Bing-bang-bomb (goes the dynamite)!

Everybody who knows, knows that Gonzaga Basketball is LEGIT — the DMV and country over!  Thank you Ryan and James for your candid take on one of the best high school basketball programs and thank you for telling your story and speaking your passion!

Happy Friday and enjoy the last couple days of 2022 — and if ‘22 for you ain’t all that and a bag of chip, ‘23 is is just around the corner with plenty of gluten-free options (even though the UTZ chips I eat are free of gluten — as I pretend to know!)

Disclaimer/spoiler:  R & J and I sat down on the 23rd to talk hoop and I should have dropped the ‘cast then, but it is kinda cool to hear the young men talk about such a cool and important trip to NYC and then deliver — ‘Zaga Eagles are still undefeated — but they face the vaunted Hoyas of North Bethesda on Wednesday of the New Year — how about that cross-town, uptown, downtown Jesuit rivalry!?   🏀 🦅 🙏🏼

SUNBACK has forever been synomous with Christmas! Early 20th century, Mr. Eric Sunback’s father had an affinity for the Christmas tree because it reminded him of his native Sweden. In 1956 young Eric sold his first tree for 25 cents, and from then on Sunback’s life has been all Christmas trees — going on to establishing two premier Christmas tree lots in the Washington DC area!

If you’re any kind of Washingtonian, there’s Sunback, and  there’s all the rest. Never choose the rest when you’ve got the best!

Dan Taylor and Brian Holler worked with Sunback since high school, and in 1996 Sunback helped Dan & Bryan start their own tree farm. And kinda the rest is history.

RIP, MR. ERIC SUNBACK, and thank you for bringing Christmas joy to countless Washingtonians. Cheers to a mighty life well lived to the ripe age of 94 years young — there must be something in the tree sap!

If you want the best at DAN AND BRYANS — you better get your December duff out there because their trees are going like hotcakes to all the beautiful and happy families and they’re sure to be all gone by weekend’s end!

Great job Dan and Bryan and their Christmas “Treem-Team!” Thank you, Mr. Bryan Holler, for taking the time to sit down with me during peak season! And . . . .

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

BGE!

Tom and I have been friends for years down by the Bethany seashore, and he  just authored his second book -- WINNERS LOSE, TOO.   It has been a three year process -- rather the process of a lifetime well spent!  Tom loves athletics and has played and coached sports his whole life!  For 40  years Tom has also been a psychotherapist.  Tom brings his rich life experience and a love of writing to humbly tell the story of how big-time athletes deal with losing -- and how they turn losing around as motivation to win!

Christmas is coming -- give the gift of resilience -- what a great lesson for the youth and folks of all ages!!  Get your book now -- I loved it and so will you!

VOTE, VOTE, VOTE for Peter Lynch to represent your neighborhood (if you live in the ANC 3/4 G-05 neighborhood of NW-DC)!  In Peter's words from his website:

I am a native Washingtonian, high school English teacher, who grew up in this ANC. The citizens of SMD-05 include my wife, brother, nieces, friends, and long time neighbors. Chevy Chase, DC is home and it would be an honor to serve this community.

Peter is family -- and I hope that he wins the distinct honor of representing the some 2,000 adults of the ANC 3/4 G-05 district of DC.  Having known him much of his life, Peter would be a marvelous representative -- one Washingtonians would be proud to call their own!

Come November 8, election day, get out and vote -- and if you are one of those lucky 2000, vote Peter Lynch -- one of the most earnest and kind-hearted people that I know!

Tommy Morrison is a 18-year-old senior who is headed to University of Texas next year to play some big-time golf!  I have known Tommy since the grade school halls and fields of Mater Dei (Bethesda, MD).  It was a pleasure catching up with an old student of mine and to hear Tee-it-high Tommy's journey in the game of golf and life.  Tommy is more than an outstanding and promising golfer — he is an impressive young man!

Cheers!
