Angouleme is right around the corner, and we now know the three names who are the finalists for this year's Grand Prix award. In this week's podcast, I'll be discussing them.

Lambiek biographies of the nominees:

• Chris Ware
• Emmanuel Guibert
• Catherine Meurisse

Since recording this episode a few days ago, I've learned more about the two French nominees, and now I'm definitely rooting for Catherine Meurisse. The Comics Journal write-up on her is amazing, and I want to read a couple of her books right away now.

What I forgot about is that Guibert and Ware were the two runners-up last year. There's every possible chance they may repeat that this year. Ouch.

This is the true story of the time that Andre Franquin's company, Marsu Production, sold the rights to Marsupilami to Disney, then had to sue to get their money's worth. Disney's own paperwork sunk the company's case in front of the court.

I reviewed more than 50 albums this year, but read many more. And now it's time to boil that down to the list of the 10 albums I liked the most. It's an insane list

I'll throw in the 11th that just missed, too, because it's the one book I had to talk myself out of putting in to make a Top 11 list. Decisions must be made, after all.

Coming at you from the Pipeline World HQ Basement once again (thus, the sound quality), it's the Pipeline Comics podcast!

I'm not a resolutions guy. I believe if you want to do something, you should do it. It doesn't matter what day of the year it is. And the plan can be longer or shorter than a year. Resolutions are too easy to ignore and not do when they're this arbitrary, for most people.

But I love listening to the year end podcasts where people review their resolutions and predictions from the beginning of the year to see how much has come true. I am a study in contrasts, so I'm resolving to do some stuff for Pipeline Comics this year. And I'm creating this podcast to keep me accountable at the end of the year.

I also reserve the right to throw all these resolutions out if I have a better idea at any time. So there!

For the past few years, it has been a tradition in my family: I get the latest Fantagraphics slipcase edition of the Don Rosa Library. Each year, they've put out two hardcover books, and each year they follow that up with a slipcover edition of those two books. Sitting on my shelf right now, I can see volumes 1 - 8 in four slipcases, and the recently added "The Complete Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" slipcase next to it?

What happened with volumes 9 and 10? And why is that forcing me to make an awkward decision?

That's what today's podcast is all about. What kind of comics collector/reader am I?!?
