ST. JAMES — The Pipestone Area Schools volleyball program has earned frequent traveler miles lately.  Last Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Arrows traveled to St. James for the second time in four days — this time defeating the Saints in four sets by scores of 25-16, 19-25, 25-18, 25-17.  “I thought we played really well,” PAS head coach Shelly Hennager said. “We readjusted after the second set and finished strong. ELKTON, S.D. — During the season, the Elkton-Lake Benton volleyball program made a coaching change. MONTEVIDEO — The Pipestone Area Schools girls tennis team has learned its playoff fate. PAS head coach James Skyberg said the Arrows will face Montevideo in the opening round of the Section 3A Team Tournament next Monday, Oct. 12.  The Thunderhawks are the No. 2 seed while the Arrows are slotted seventh.  The match will be in Montevideo since its the better seed. The Pipestone Performing Arts Center (PPAC) recently began its 33rd season with a performance by Transit Authority, a Chicago tribute band, on Saturday, Oct. 3. PPAC Managing Director Mark Thode said over 200 people attended the show. It was the first of four presenter series shows the PPAC has planned for this season. The Pipestone Area Marching Arrows won the Diamond in the Rough Award Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Dutchmen Field Championship in Orange City, Iowa. Director Zach Ploeger said the award recognizes the band with the most improved score from last year to this year. Settlement approved for assessment appeals Pipestone City Council members during their Oct. 5 meeting approved settlement agreements with Post Property Management, LLC and HL & DJ Properties, LLC, which had appealed special assessments for street and utility work done in 2023 and 2024. The City Council made the decision following a closed session to discuss pending litigation with the city’s attorney.
