  • HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: PAS boys fall to JCC's tall timber

Jackson County Central’s post play was simply too much for Pipestone Area Schools in Big South Conference boys basketball action Tuesday, Jan. 13. Sullivan Hall stands 6-foot-10 as the Huskies’ center. Weston Rowe is a bulky 6-foot-7 power forward set to play football for South Dakota State University. “They are a tough and well-coached team,” PAS head coach Michael Slaba noted. “They are tall and athletic, and take advantage when you make mistakes.” Boxing out and rebounding proved to be difficult tasks, and the Huskies finished with a 48-35 edge on the boards resulting in a 70-44 victory. Slaba was...

It was another step on the rung for this state qualifier. “I’m very impressed with Mason,” PAS head wrestling coach Paul Young said. “He’s gotten bigger, stronger and better in every aspect (of the sport).” Young recalled Mason Fruechte’s earlier days when he barely could make the minimum weight to compete.
