Pittsburgh Steelers Podcast | Steel City Underground

Brian is joined by the "Professor of Football" Zach Metkler and SCU contributor Ryan Lippert for the second mock draft podcast of the season. This time around the guys go totally insane and model the mock after one of Brian's "Mock Draft Insanity" profiles.

Let's be clear: nobody expects this craziness to happen! (If it does it would make the movie "Draft Day" look boring!)

Here is the scenario that is laid out for our drafters:

* The Steelers trade Antonio Brown and their first round pick (number 20) to San Francisco for their 2nd overall pick and the Niners 3rd rounder this year AND a 2020 3rd.

* The Steelers trade back from pick 2 with the Buffalo Bills for pick 9 in the first, pick 9 in the second, and pick 7 in the third, plus pick 11 in the fourth AND next year’s first rounder.

* The Steelers then trade back from pick 9 with the Carolina Panthers for their first round pick (16), pick 16 in the fifth round, and 2020 second and third round choices.

* Finally the Steelers trade back one more time, with the Seattle Seahawks for pick 21 and a future 2nd and 3rd round selection.

With that as the guide, the guys run through seven rounds of Steelers picks!

Christina Rivers and Brian Roach sit down with Steve Massey, author of "Starless: The 1947 Pittsburgh Steelers" in an exclusive interview. Steve discusses topics in his book, including the strained relationship between "Jock" Sutherland and "Bullet" Bill Dudley and the no-name gridiron brawlers who gelled to make the Steelers' first championship run in franchise history and how tragedy led to Pittsburgh enduring another 25 years before making another playoff appearance.

Steve and Christina discuss training camp at Camden Springs (PA), Sutherland's coaching idealogy, "Big Bertha", the infamous "puke-a-cola", and the 1947 team.

Steve and Brian talk about similarities between the modern Steelers' issues with "stars" versus coaches and Dudley versus Sutherland. Steve also weighs in on Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell.

Antonio Brown is back in the headlines due to more social media hijinks as well as his teammates’ comments from last weekend’s Pro Bowl. It appears that time may heal all and today, Joe and Brian discuss Brown, the Pro Bowl and another topic that doesn’t get enough air time: just how “killer” have the Killer B’s been?

The collection of players who share an initial in common each brought something with them that helped contribute to the Steelers 2018 season as being labeled a “circus” … and precisely zero hardware to Pittsburgh in their time together!

Brian E. Roach is joined by "The Professor of Football" Zach Metkler and SCU contributors Noah Freeman and Chase Hammes for a four-round Steelers-based NFL mock draft. The group will each make picks based on this scenario:

The Steelers have traded Antonio Brown to the Raiders for the twenty seventh pick in the draft, and a 2020 draft pick. This gives the Steelers 2 first round picks, and their second, third and fourth round picks as well. Will there be trades? Who catches the eye of the panelists? Find out in the first mock draft of the season.

On today’s episode Joe and Brian discuss the fan frenzy over losing offensive line coach Mike Munchak as well as the fervor over wanting coaching changes…

You wanted coaching changes you say? Well the Steelers have been making coaching changes for the last two offseason!

The duo digs into those changes to see who the last men left standing are, and an educated guess on whether said changes are for better… or for worse!

The drama continues for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Zach Metkler joins Brian E. Roach as the two ex-lineman briefly discuss the departure of offensive line coach Mike Munchak before turning their attention to the “man of the hour”: Antonio Brown.

Yes, the primary topic is once again “AB”. This time the hosts talk about where he might go, and what the Steelers should REALISTICALLY expect as compensation.

They’ll also debate on whether or not it’s better to trade Brown for draft picks this year… or next? All this and more on this edition of the Steel City Underground Podcast.

Joe and Brian table today’s planned topic for late breaking news as the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac sat down for an interview with Steelers President Art Rooney II to discuss Antonio Brown’s future: one where Rooney states it’s “Hard to envision” the wide receiver being with team for training camp.

If that news wasn’t enough to rattle the foundation of Steelers Nation, this episode should shake it further! More quotes are pulled from Dulac’s interview, including whether a release is on the table, how the Steelers salary cap factors into a potential decision, and which teams could be potential partners with Pittsburgh for an Antonio Brown trade.

Joe and Brian revisit NFL Wild Card weekend and link it to current events surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers to present Steelers Nation with the notion that every other team in the league has to handle drama…

Not just the Steelers!

Join the dynamic duo as they look at teams from around the league, including those also in the AFC North, and compare some of their situations to that of the Steelers… and how some of those teams overcame adversity and are sitting in a fairly good spot heading into the Divisional Round, while all it will take is for a loss to send others into a downward spiral of gossip, rumors, and “locker room headaches”.
