Pittsburgh Steelers Podcast | Steel City Underground

Mr. Big Chest/Checks got what he wanted: Antonio Brown is no longer a Pittsburgh Steeler following a trade (in principle) to the Oakland Raiders.

Critics are already talking about who “won” or “lost” the trade from this weekend, so why not do it here?

Brian E. Roach is joined by “The Professor” Zach Metkler to look at the trade, what it cost each team, and how it may benefit the Steelers most.

Joe and Brian already know everyone’s tongue-in-cheek answer to today’s topic.

However, after examining the players who should be available once the new league year begins, as well as the Steelers cap space, could the team be major players in this year’s free agency? And why may that be the answer?

Yes, folks we have another Antonio Brown show for yinz today!

On the heels of his interview tours on HBO’s “The Shop” with LeBron James and an exclusive sit-down interview with ESPN, Joe and Brian attempt to not only sympathize with AB’s claims but also attempt to decipher what it all means.

Part of that process is trying to figure out who is responsible for this entire situation? Does blame fall elsewhere? Or is it solely on Antonio Brown? And how might the receiver’s words be interpreted when he’s contradicting what he’s saying elsewhere or otherwise saying nothing much at all?

Nearly an hour more of this “Steelers podcast” is dedicated to “Mr. Big Chest” as the SCU crew looks at every angle from Brown’s most recent comments.

Following up on last week’s podcast about offensive priorities for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Joe and Brian pair up again on today’s show to discuss what the Steelers defense, and to a lesser extent special teams, may look like in 2019.

Compared with the offense, there may be some give and take as to what position, and on what side of the ball, the franchise addresses early in free agency and/or this year’s NFL Draft. Some of their answers may surprise you!

Brian E. Roach leads today’s program and is joined by a bevy of guests including SCU Editor Christina “Tina” Rivers, and fellow contributors Ryan Lippert and Noah Freeman. The group plays out several scenarios which may be possible as the Steelers look to move on from “Mr. Big Chest” himself, Antonio Brown.

What type of trades could occur between Pittsburgh and a willing partner? And how will that affect the Steelers 2019 NFL Draft plans?

Find out as this roundtable discussion sees what type of draft capital the Steelers may acquire and what players the team could target given the fresh new picks.

Joe and Brian address the latest news on Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell, and others that dropped over the last few days to discuss what offensive needs the Pittsburgh Steelers have this offseason.

With Brown and Bell both all but officially gone from the Steel City, the hosts pair up to discuss what the Steelers offense may look like in 2019 and if the wide receiver position just became the top priority for Pittsburgh to address in free agency or the upcoming NFL Draft… and if not, what could possibly be a more important need?

Joe and Brian attempt to avoid talking about Antonio Brown for an entire episode and instead change directions as the league heads toward the 2019 NFL Draft.

There’s always criticism of past drafts, but how well has Pittsburgh Steelers GM Kevin Colbert done as of late?

The duo goes back to grade past drafts, starting five years ago with the 2014 Steelers draft, which yielded a surprising amount of steady contributors and maybe one name to remember for a lifetime.

Joe and Brian are back to breakdown, the latest breakdown, between the Pittsburgh Steelers and “disgruntled” wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Following a less cryptic tweet yesterday, the rumor mill is overflowing with potential landing spaces for AB: but how did we get to this point? And is this relationship now officially beyond repair?

The dynamic duo discuss this and then some, as they find a few more things to say about a situation that has had more than enough said about it since the end of the season!

With NFL free agency right around the corner, Joe and Brian tackle the topic of which Steelers are set to hit the market and more importantly, who does Pittsburgh retain and who do they let walk?

The highest profile name on this list, Le’Veon Bell, has yet another set of special circumstances surrounding his name as to whether the Steelers will attempt to keep him around or simply let it go.

The duo discusses whether or not we could see Bell tagged again and what risk the team has in doing so, as well as whether or not other key names will be back in 2019, plus a short chat on the AAF’s opening weekend and a big move that could impact the Cleveland Browns in more ways than one.

Joe and Brian are back to let everyone know that football isn’t over: it’s just beginning!

That’s the crux of the new Alliance of American Football, which kicks off this upcoming weekend. Now, we know that some of you are wondering, what’s up with the podcast about this AAF? Isn’t it just the minor leagues?

While that may be true, the league and it’s eight teams sport an extensive list of former Pittsburgh Steelers: a true mix of an impressive names as well as little-known players who had a cup of Gatorade at St. Vincent’s college during training camp and the preseason.

Our hosts breakdown what you need to know about the AAF, which former Steelers are involved, and why some of the innovations they’re testing out could be adopted in the near future by the NFL.
