The hard message for many to swallow is not the Good Friday message of atonement, or the Easter message of resurrection, but the Christmas message of incarnation.

 You see, it is the ''who'' of Christmas that makes the ''what'' of Christmas, so important and the ''why'' of Christmas so understandable.

Jesus Entered Into Life With Us

In creation, God has revealed His power. 

In scripture, God has revealed His principles.

In Jesus, God has revealed His person.

The impossible is that man can become God. 

The inconceivable is that God would become man.

The incredible is that Jesus is both.

Jesus Existed In Eternity Before Us

I. We Should Follow Jesus As Our Guide

1. Look at the first name that Jesus is given. Wonderful Counselor

A. There has never been more counselors 

B. There have never been more people with more problems.

Some people can give you good advice. 

Some can give you better advice 

Some may even give you the best advice. 

Jesus gives you perfect advice.

Three Ways He Gives Us Counsel

1. Through His Word

2. By the Spirit of God

3. The people of God

II. We Should Worship Jesus As Our God

2. The second name that Jesus is given. Mighty God

Everything that God is Jesus is because Jesus is God. Everything that God has Jesus has, because Jesus is God. 

Everything that God does Jesus does, because Jesus is God.

He is mighty in His presence, because He is everywhere. 

He is mighty in His power for He can do anything. 

He is might in His perception, because He knows everything.

We Can Relate To The Humanity Of Jesus

He was a child

He was born

He was given by a Heavenly Father, but He was born to an earthly mother.

We Should Rejoice In The Divinity Of Jesus

Heads is a baby was born in Bethlehem who was just like us. 

The tail side is that baby was God who was not just like us.

We Must Respond To The Authority Of Jesus

He won't need a legislative branch because He is the law giver. 

He won't need a judicial branch, because He is the judge. 

He won't need an executive branch, because He is the King

3) You’re not responsible for anyone’s conversion.

Rejecting the King’s Authority

Scripture:

Notes:

Three Groups Approach Jesus

The chief priests – current, former, and candidates for High Priest – mostly Sadducees. 

Teachers of the law or scribes – Pharisees. 

Elders, the most prominent members of the prominent families in Israel.

Notice that the Lord seized upon a most remarkable test. He asked about the baptism of John, not the ministry of John. Nor did He ask about John himself.

The religious leaders were more concerned about public opinions that they were about truth.

Christ’s word is not optional in our lives. When Christ speaks, we are to obey.

1. The call to believe in Jesus (35-36)

A. He didn't respond to their cry - He'd shown enough

B. He didn't back down on His claim - He'd said enough.

C. He didn't remain with that crowd - He'd seen enough.

2. The Causes of Unbelief (37-43)

A. What was demonstrated to them.

B. The first cause of unbelief – God blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts.

C. The second cause for unbelief. They were more concerned about the opinions of men than the opinions of God.

3. The Consequences of Unbelief (44-50)

First, unbelief means we are rejecting God the Father.

Second, unbelief means we are failing to see the glory of God through Jesus.

Third, unbelief means that we remain in darkness.

Fourth, unbelief means that we will be judged by Jesus’ words.

Fifth, unbelief means we miss out on eternal life.

It angered Jesus that now God’s temple was being used for mercenary business, not missionary business.

A Time For Tears

He wept at the grave of Lazarus - tears of sympathy He wept in the Garden of Gethsemane - tears of agony He wept on the Mount of Olives - tears of urgency

I want to suggest to you three things that caused Him to weep.

1. Jesus wept because of their superficial religion.

Matthew 7:22.

A. False Praying 

B. False Preaching 

C. False Power 

D. False Performance

2. Jesus wept because of their passing opportunity

The fact of death is certain. 

The time of death is uncertain.

3. Jesus wept because of their smoldering judgment.

Do the things that break the heart of Jesus break yours today?
