  • Bonus Episode: Guest on Marcus Smith's Inner Fight Podcast

Here's another guest episode brought to you from The Inner Fight Podcast where I was recently a guest.

Marcus Smith has had a big influence on my running journey but also my fitness career, so I was delighted to be joining him on his podcast, where he asked the questions.

We delve into my passion of fitness and why I googled 'am I too old to be a personal trainer at 45'. What I have learnt so far on my journey and how I can understand my clients through my own personal experiences.

Marcus pulls me up on having mentioned 'imposter syndrome' twice within the first 10 minutes of the show, so I share what I believe it means and how I have used it to my advantage to channel my learnings and gain more knowledge that I can use to help my clients on their own journey.

Having had the opportunity to chat to Marcus on 3 separate occasions has been a really honour and I hope we can level up the podcast scores to 2-2!

  • Episode 19: Understanding mental fitness with Garth Peters
As a survivor of a brutal attack that hit national news, then losing his partner to suicide and watching injustice roll out with his attackers not being brought to justice Garth Peters understands what it means to rebuild lives.
He spent time firstly rebuilding his own health and then went on to qualify a personal trainer and mental fitness coach.
So I asked Garth to share his story and how he managed to get through this terrible ordeal, recover and then use it positively to help others.
Listening to Garth (even knowing his story, after hearing him on Clubhouse) still had the hairs on my body stand on end!
Garth is a remarkable example of a person that has shown we all have a choice and that whilst we cannot control events and situations that happen to us, we can control how we react and deal with them.
His story is both emotionally moving and incredibly inspiring to remind us all that nothing lasts forever and that some of the worst things that happen to us in life can potentially a catalyst for positive change.
We all have the same 24 hours a day and a life to lead…remember to be present, grateful and live it to the fullest.
If you would like to find out more about Garth, you can find him on Clubhouse, where he runs several rooms on mental fitness as well as his website here.
I am grateful to Garth for being so open and sharing his story with me and you and will leave you with this quote below:

  • Episode 17: Find the fun in fitness with GMF Founders
Episode 17 is with GetMeFit co-founders Jane Hart and Georgina Northern who are helping HR professionals improve their employees productivity and engagement though using their fitness and wellbeing platform

We recorded this episode during mental health awareness week so started off with talking about the 5 ways to wellbeing as these tie in with their why and what they do:
    Connect
    Take Notice
    Give
    Be Active
    Keep Learning
Being proponents of corporate well-being., I ask them what they think companies could and should be doing more to provide a holistic approach towards their employees.

NHS estimates that obesity affects around 1 in every 4 adults and around 1 in every 5 children aged 10 to 11.
These are quite alarming figures, so in their opinion I ask why they think it is a big problem and why being a social venture is so important.
We discuss the biggest myths and best/worse parts of the profession
Outro Quote - I’ll leave you with a quote by Leo Tolstoy
Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no-one thinks of changing themselves.
