Welcome to 2022! To ring in the new year, we have brought on our first repeating guest: the incomparable Dylan Hornik!
Despite the beefy runtime (similar to last week's pod with Abigail Noy, go check it out if you haven't), this episode with Dylan is pretty straightforward. Given that it's 2022, we stepped into the time machine and traveled a decade back by unpacking the wild 2012 Mets' season, which is now a whole ten years old!
Then, we played a new game birthed from the brain of our lovely host Jack Hendon. In this game, we take a player ripe for remembering and each of us guess if his OPS+ (a stat weighing offensive production above the league average, valued at 100; 110 is 10% above league average) is higher or lower than Omar Vizquel career mark of 82, a paltry 18% below average. We've got a point system and everything, and at the end, Sam, Dylan, or Jack is crowned a champion. Don't miss it.
There was also a freshly relevant guy to remember at the end and some breaking MLB media news that broke as we were recording.
Follow Dylan on Twitter at @_Hornik_ or at the official @BetMGM account where it's his job to do tweets sometimes. Enjoy the episode, Mets fans!
We have a guest! Her name is Abigail Noy, or @BringDaNoyz on Mets Twitter. She's a one-time Jeopardy! contestant, a screen printer (@sympathetic.inker on Instagram for her designs) and a big Mets fan! She is delightful and we think you'll enjoy her.
We covered a lot of ground with her, from her Mets fan origin story to Kris and Anna Benson and the curse of the the Mets' Santa costume.
Enjoy the episode and give Abigail a follow.
Happy New Year, Mets fans!
Steve got what he wanted; Buck Showalter is the Mets new manager. Let's talk about it.
We also run through a list of remaining free agents and assess whether the Mets should or should not sign them in a game of Hot or Not (yeah, that's right. We brought it back!)
Why is this episode over an hour long? What is the title referencing? Just listen to find out.
Help pass the time in MLB Lockout Purgatory by listening to us break down the lockout and go over the Mets' managerial finalists. Hint: we both don't want Buck Showalter, but it's more nuanced than that. There's also a Rick Van Den Hurk reference, so stick around for that.
Enjoy.
MAX SCHERZER IS A MET
MAX SCHERZER IS A MET
Starling Marte, Mark Canha, and Eduardo Escobar are also Mets but...
MAX SCHERZER IS A MET!
Noah Syndergaard is an Angel.
Billy Eppler is running the show.
Who the heck is gonna manage the Mets?
News broke while we were recording! It was not good news!
Listen to us chat about it all.
Thanks.
The GM search is still stalled.
Eduardo Rodriguez set the market for starting pitchers by signing with the Tigers.
The Mets feel like they have absolutely no direction.
Robinson Cano is still on this team.
We talk about it all. Welcome back to PGE.
We're back for another fresh, new, exciting, delicious episode of PGE.
Two teams are still playing baseball. We talk about the series as it shifts back to Houston.
We also talk about Bob Melvin's departure from the A's and the implications it may have on the Mets.
We then discuss the Mets' continuously depressing front office search. Will we ever have nice things?
Then, we reminisce about 2015. Harvey Day and Hosmer's Mad Dash were six years ago! Time flies when your team stinks.
Enjoy the episode and be sure to follow us on Twitter @ThePGEpod for more fun and fresh content.
We took a week off, but we're back with a new episode...
This week, we're taking a look at the MLB playoffs and give our thoughts. Both of our initial predictions were not very good, as it turns out. We tell you who to root for of the remaining four teams (hint, it's none of them).
We also talk Mets' managerial and front office hunt(s). We think Luis Rojas got a bad wrap. We'll tell you why. We also go through the list of (known) candidates for the Mets' POBO/GM spot and try to make sense of it.
Enjoy the episode, Mets fans!
