  • Episode 56: Finally, a Merciful End

The 2021 regular season is in the books and the Mets finished 77-85. It was a rough second half and a painful finish to an otherwise disappointing season. We talk about it.

We begin by breaking down the Game 162 chaos and previewing the playoffs. We give our in-depth playoff predictions and let you know who wins the 2021 World Series.

We also went back and looked at our predictions for the 2021 Mets season. We go prediction-by-prediction and see what we got right and what we got VERY wrong (which was a lot).

Then, we give our superlatives for the 2021 Mets.

Enjoy the episode, Mets fans, and enjoy the start of the playoffs.

  • Episode 55: with Mets Fan and Filmmaker Nick Davis

Sorry for the wait, Mets fans... we hope it's worth it.

We're thrilled to welcome Nick Davis onto the podcast. Davis is the director and producer of Once Upon a Time in Queens, the recent four-part ESPN 30-for-30 documentary on the 1986 Mets.

Davis joins us around the 21-minute mark and talks about the series with us. He discusses his film background and how he's previously crossed the intersection between documentaries and sports. He also talks about his vision for the project, how his own Mets fandom occasionally clouded his judgement during production, and shares some of the stories that were left on the cutting room floor. Nearly half of the series' original rough cut was cut due to runtime restrictions! There's lots more stories to share.

Before he joined us, we talked about the Mets' elimination from postseason contention, Noah Syndergaard's brief return, Jacob deGrom's official shutdown, and catch up on the playoff races around the league.

Davis was an extremely gracious guest and a very fun interview. We covered a lot of ground with him, far too much to describe here. We hope you enjoyed his insights as much as we did. You can follow him on Twitter @NickDavisProds.

Enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week to break down the season's finale.

  • Episode 54: Once Upon A Time on PGE

Hey Mets fans! It's a fresh week which means a fresh Pleasant Good Evening.

This week, we spend the front half of the episode tracking our way through a rough week in Metsville. The Mets lost 5 of 6, including a sweep to the Cardinals and losing the first two to the Phillies. We provide a brief eulogy of the season now that the Mets' playoff hopes are effectively kaput.

We spend the rest of the episode talking about our thoughts on ESPN's docuseries on the 1986 Mets, called "Once Upon a Time in Queens", that aired last week. If you haven't seen it, go watch it! And then come back and listen to our thoughts on it.

As always, give us a rate and a review and a share. Follow us on Twitter @ThePGEPod for more content. See you next week, Mets fans! Enjoy the episode!

  • Episode 53: The Francisco Lindor Show

We'll keep it simple this week: Francisco Lindor rocks. The Mets won the Subway Series. The Yankees were being little babies. It was a lot of fun.

We recap the series, the week as a whole, and look forward to the final 18 games of the season and predict if the Mets will climb back to the playoffs.

Enjoy the episode, fellow Lindor enjoyers.

  • Episode 52: We're Going Streaking (Maybe)

So, the Mets won six of seven this week. They're 3.5 games out of a playoff spot. They can't stop hitting. How interesting. We're getting sucked right back in. We talk about everything that happened on the field post-thumb incident.

We also talk off-the-field stuff. Zack Scott's DUI has left an unfortunate stain on an otherwise great week for the Mets. Let's discuss where the front office goes from here.

There's also lots of injury news and notes to go over. Lots of rehab assignments!

Then, we reminisce about that wonderful Labor Day series in Washington in 2015. Come remember with us.

Thanks for listening! As always, be sure to follow us on Twitter @ThePGEPod for more content and share us with your Mets fan friends! See you next week, Mets fans.

  • Episode 51: With Syracuse Mets Broadcaster Will Scott

The Mets won a series. After the Giants swept them at home to start the week, the Mets finished out with two straight to take a series from the lowly Nationals. There was offense! Timely hitting! Dingers! It was good.

However, it seems to be the last thing on Mets fans' minds heading into the new week. The team's new thumbs down celebration appears to be directed at the fans who have booed the Mets' underperforming players all season. Javy Báez' postgame comments lit a flaming discourse that burned deep into the night. It sucked. We talked about it.

Then, we're joined by Will Scott, one of the broadcasters for the Mets' Triple-A affiliate, the Syracuse Mets. Will tells us about his transition into the world of Metsdom after getting hired in May, which players have impressed him the most, and what it was like hearing his own voice on Sportscenter earlier this summer.

Be sure to give Will a follow on Twitter @WillScott44. Enjoy the episode, Mets fans!

  • Episode 50: Happy Anniversary, PGE!

We made it a year. 50 episodes down, and we're just getting started. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, sincerely, for listening to us every week.

To celebrate, we have an absolutely loaded episode for you. The front half is fairly normal PGE stuff. We talk about the roadtrip out west - and it's not all negative this time. There's some positives to break down. Specifically, coming home off a win, having Javy back with Lindor following in short order, and Marcus Stroman continuing to shove every fifth day.

And let's not get too hopeful yet, but after the Giants series this week, the Mets play four consecutive series against the Nationals and Marlins. 7 back in both the division and wild card races isn't an impossible task with over a month of play left. Let's get weird with the toughest stretch nearly behind us.

After the break, we spend the last half of the episode remembering YOUR guys. We asked you to remember a guy on Twitter and we got over 60 guys. We tried to touch on as many as we could. So, thanks for participating if you did. It's the most remembering we've ever done and it was a ton of fun.

Wednesday is our official one year anniversary since the first episode dropped. Keep an eye out on our Twitter @thePGEpod for something fun we have planned.

Cheers to year one. Here's to year two.

    Thanks for listening, Mets fans.

  • Episode 49: The Dodgers Are Better Than The Mets

The fun part of the week was when the Mets swept the Nationals. Pete Alonso hit a walk-off homer! It was fun!

Then they got swept by the (much better) Dodgers at home. It was rough. We've been feeling a little pessimistic about the way the team is feeling again, and we feel like we're justified. We break down what turned out to be a pretty ugly series, especially on the results-side.

The offense still isn't clicking. They can't hit for power. They can't hit with guys on.

The pitching staff has been pretty good, but without deGrom at the top, it feels much more hollow.

It's make-or-break time. 10 more games against the Giants and Dodgers including a week-long stay on the west coast. By this time next week, we may be ready to eulogize the season.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

As always, if you enjoyed the episode, be sure to rate and share! We'll see you next week for the big 5-0, Mets fans!

  • Episode 48: Mets Reliever Tom Hackimer Helps Distract us From the Pain!

The Mets have lost six of seven and fallen to third place in the division. While we do care about that, things around the Mets have been really, really depressing lately. So, after a brief, 20-minute conversation about some of the baseball stuff, we welcome Mets minor league reliever Tom Hackimer onto the pod!

Tom is in Triple-A Syracuse right now slinging filth from the side. The Mets originally drafted him out of St. John's in 2015, and though he didn't sign, he made his way to the Mets earlier this season after being cut from the Twins organization. He's become a friend to us over the last couple of months, so it was a natural fit to get him onto PGE.

With him, we talk about his origin story in becoming a sidearmer (something we also asked the other two sidearmers we've had on the pod). We talk about how awful a city Binghamton is in his eyes, how to manage a workload when so many arms are moving between 'Cuse and the Big Leagues, and how he feels about potentially being on the doorstep to the Majors.

Tom is also a content creator! He's made a handful of fun vlogs with Momentum on Youtube. Oh look! Here's one. Go check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erMuusjzRkk

You can follow him on Twitter @HackAttackimer. Enjoy our conversation with Tom and we'll see you next week, Mets fans!

  • Episode 47: Everything Has Sucked Lately

Kumar Rocker did not sign with the Mets. The Mets pulled some sketchy crap in the process. Jacob deGrom is still hurt. Javy Báez is a Met, but no one else (besides literally Trevor Williams) came along with him on deadline day. The Mets lost five of eight this week.

We're frustrated. We're upset. This is the most negative we've ever been on PGE. We hope it's cathartic for you.

See you next week with (hopefully) better vibes.
