  • Episode 36: Mother's Day Sweep!

It was quite the hectic week, Mets fans...

It started with the firings of Chili Davis and Tom Slater as the team's hitting coaches. Then, Jacob deGrom couldn't start in St. Louis because of a lat injury. But they split the series against the Cardinals regardless.

Then, Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil possibly fought and Patrick Mazeika played hero on Friday. But there were also rodents involved, or so we were told. Then the team swept Arizona but deGrom is still hurt. There is a lot going on.

We talk about all of it - in excruciating detail - and more on this week's episode.

Be sure to rate, review, and share if you enjoy! See you next time, Mets fans.

  • Episode 35: Diesel Donnie, Jose Alvarado, and the Rhys Dinger That Never Was

Where do we even begin this week, Mets fans? Let's work our way backwards...

You all saw that game last night on Sunday Night Baseball. The Mets make an epic 8th inning comeback to nearly let it fall by the wayside as Rhys Hoskins has a game-tying homer walked back by umpire review. The Mets hung on to win an instant classic, taking a series ripe with drama from the rival Phillies. We break down the entire series just moments after it ended, including discussing the contributions of some unsung heroes.

Let's then talk about Donnie Stevenson, apparently a new 'hitting approach' coach that helped the Mets offense turn it around in Philly. The issue: no one is sure he's a real person. If you're not already on board with Diesel Donnie and ripping heaters, we've got you covered.

And let's discuss the offense in general. Who's turning the corner? Who isn't? Are we worried about Lindor?

Well, we are worried about James McCann. In fact, we both think it might be time to let Tomas Nido see the field more than he has.

It's an action-packed, high-energy 35th edition of Pleasant Good Evening. If you enjoyed it, leave a rating, a review, and share it with the Mets fans in your life. We'll see you next week, Mets fans!

  • Episode 34: He Wants Your Diaper Around Your Ankles

It's starting to feel like this team is alternating good weeks and bad weeks. This week was...not so great. A sweep at the hands of the Cubs out in Wrigley dampened our outlook even despite the series win over the Nats that followed. There's lots of talk about, so let's get into it.

We break down both series, in detail, so that you can live through the pain (and joy from the week's two wins) once again.

We discuss the continued streakiness of both the offense and the defense, as it looked terrible in Chicago but much better in the finale against the Nationals.

And another Jacob deGrom start means even more superlatives to throw at the Best Pitcher On The Planet. We discuss exactly what has been so impressive and just how ridiculous this early season stretch has been.

We then break down some promising injury news for some Mets arms and what it means for the club when those fellas return.

  • Episode 33: Maybe These Guys Don't Suck

What a difference a week makes, Mets fans! The team is looking so, so much better than when last we spoke to you. In a week that included three more postponements, the Mets rattled off five wins in six tries including three out of four wins in doubleheader games. We break down why this team has started to turn it around. Spoiler alert: it's the pitching.

But before we jump into that, we have to talk about the Athletic article that shed some light on the Mets' front office. We give you guys are nuanced take on Sandy Alderson's role with the front office given his involvement in the rehiring of someone multiple women asked him not to rehire.

Once we deal with that, we get to talk baseball, and it was a fun week in Mets baseball. Jacob deGrom is on another planet right now and we may be witnessing a historic season as a result.

Marcus Stroman has also been fantastic, just like he was on Sunday in Denver.

Taijuan Walker and David Peterson have each flashes excellence as well. Oh, and by the way, reinforcements are on their way soon with Carlos Carrasco coming back soon and Noah Syndergaard not terribly far behind him.

Once the offense gets going...the NL East should watch out.

Be sure to rate, review, download, and share with a friend if you enjoy the show. Check out our Twitter - @thePGEPod - for a new weekly poll we're gonna start up. And most of all, enjoy the episode, Mets fans!

  • Episode 32: Only 157 Games to Go

It seems hard to believe, but the Mets did actually play baseball this week. Your favorite youthful podcasters are here to break down the first official week of Mets baseball in 2021...and it was a doozy.

The Mets won twice and they lost thrice. It was a frustrating week for a variety of reasons. One such reason was the lack of support, both offensively and in the bullpen, for Jacob deGrom. We're used to it, but for some reason we hoped it would be different this year. It's not.

We're also frustrated because no one seems to be able to hit, especially with men on base. We talk about our worries regarding the offense and specifically Michael Conforto. Spoiler: we're not very worried.

But we are kind of worried about Luis Rojas. We're not fans of his managerial style so far this year. You're going to want to stick around for our conversation about the Mets manager.

And of course, we end off by remembering some guys! Be sure to throw us a follow on Twitter @thePGEpod if you haven't already and rate, download, and review the podcast! Enjoy the episode Mets fans. We'll see you next week.

  • Episode 31: What The Heck Is a "Bally Sports" (with Rob Piersall)

How's it going Mets fans! Another new week means another new PGE, even if the Mets' series in Washington got canned!

This week, we're joined by the wonderful Rob Piersall (@RTPiersall) to further fill the time before the Mets first game. We start by breaking down the Francisco Lindor extension and the wide range of emotions we felt by going from the high of the extension to the low of Opening Day getting canceled for our boys in blue and orange.

We then move into a discussion on covid-19 vaccines and how the Mets are approaching it. Spoiler alert: we are not happy with the messaging the Mets are spreading with regards to getting vaccinated. Sam especially has many thoughts.

After talking about vaccines, we talk about the infamous new Bally Sports Network scorebug. It's ugly. We hate it. We have many thoughts. We compare it to some of SNY's scorebugs throughout the years.

We finish out by remembering some guys, which is a specialty of Rob's. Follow the Twitter account he runs, @MetsLegends, which is literally an account devoted to remembering guys. He also just started his own podcast for Real Mets Legends, called the Mets Legends Cast. Be sure to follow it @MetsLegendsCast and check out the first episode. Expect new episodes early in the week!

Be sure to give PGE 5-stars and a glowing review to help us grow. Enjoy the (hopefully) first week of Mets games and the episode, Mets fans!

  • Episode 30: Real Baseball is Nearly Upon Us

Can you smell it, Mets fans? Baseball is almost here. We're bringing you the last episode before the regular season kicks off on Thursday. We can't wait! Can you?

We spent this week doing mostly previews and predictions before the season kicks off. We first discussed the Opening Day roster and who we think gets the final spots. Then we moved onto our team predictions.

We broke down who we think will lead the team in certain important categories, who will break out, who will be a dud, and where the team will finish. Feel free to roast us on Twitter in six months when we get most of these wrong.

Then, we spent time talking about some league-wide predictions, both postseason teams and end-of-year award winners. Again, feel free to roast us in November.

We also talked about Francisco Lindor eating dinner with Steve Cohen, which we learned about mid-recording. Hopefully next week, we'll be talking about an extension.

  • Episode 29: With Mets Sidearmer Trevor Hildenberger!

How's it going, Mets fans! This week, we're very excited to bring our first active Major Leaguer on the show in the form of current Mets pitcher Trevor Hildenberger.

Before we talk to Trevor, we spend some time breaking down what Carlos Carrasco's injury means for the Mets' starting rotation. We also talk about the bullpen as a whole.

Once we bring Trevor onto the show, we hit quite a few topics with him. First, we talk about why he signed with the Mets and what the vibe around camp has been like.

We also talk about how he came to sidearm pitching while he was in college, and what being an unconventional pitcher is like.

We also discuss how 2020 affected him as a pitcher and as a person before remembering some guys.

Special thanks to Trevor Hildenberger for coming on the pod with us. Give him a follow on Twitter @t_hildy.

And make sure to give us a rate, review, and a follow wherever you listen to us to help the pod grow! Thanks and enjoy the episode, Mets fans!

  • Episode 28: Pleasant Guillorme Evening

What's up Mets fans! We're bringing a new episode of PGE to you to celebrate the new week, as usual.

This week, we jump straight into dissecting the Luis Guillorme 22-pitch marathon plate appearance from Sunday. It was truly electric and we had to talk about it straight from the jump.

We also talk about our frustrations with not getting to watch Jacob deGrom pitch on TV yet. And we talk about our frustrations with having to listen to Gary Apple call baseball games.

Then we talk about the fifth starter spot. With Opening Day less than three weeks away, we break down who has the edge between David Peterson, Jordan Yamamoto, and Joey Lucchesi.

We also discuss Carlos Carrasco's potential injury snag, how some former Mets are doing around the league, and dive into the rule changes in minor league baseball.

All that before remembering some guys to finish it out! Be sure to follow us on Twitter @thePGEpod for more content. Leave a rating, review, and tell a Mets fan about the pod! See you next week, Mets fans! Enjoy the episode!
