  • Episode 46: Time for Some Good Trades?

The trade deadline is finally right around the corner, folks. This is the LAST PGE before the deadline. When next you hear from us, we will know if the Mets got their hands on any delicious morsels of baseballness.

But first, we had to break down a very busy week in Metsland.

Everything from that whack series in Cincy to the homestand opener against the Jays - we've got you covered with an in-depth recap, both on the offensive side and pitching side. That includes talking about Rich Hill, the Mets first real #traid.

We also looked ahead to this massive five-game series against the Braves starting with today's doubleheader. If the Mets get swept, the Braves pull even. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

Then, we checked in on the trade market. With Adam Frazier off the board, we looked at who remains and gave our thoughts on the best and most likely moves the Mets could make.

If you enjoy the episode, and we sincerely hope you do, be sure to rate, review, download, follow, and do whatever else you can to support. We'll see you next week, Mets fans.

  • Episode 45: Rich Staff Kicks off Season 2!

Surprise! Welcome to the second season of Pleasant Good Evening! Not much has changed, except our shiny new logo in honor of the Mets' black jerseys.

To help celebrate the start of the second half and the start of season two is resident Mets Twitter fav, Richard Staff. The king of the Staffpost and being left by your wife joins us to talk about how sad that dumb series in Pittsburgh made us. We are happy to come away with a good win, but jeez, that series stunk in general.

We also talk Home Run Derby with Rich and talk about how Pete Alonso was literally born for this.

Then, after the halfway point in the episode, we pivot to Rich and talk about him. He breaks down his Mets Twitter origins, how he birthed his first Staffpost, and what his favorite interactions with players are on your Twitter timeline.

It's one of the longest PGEs to date, and if you ask us, it's a fun time. Stick around for Rich's Howard Stern and Mike Francesa impressions. Be sure to follow Rich on Twitter @RichardStaff if you're somehow not among the 14K that already follow him. And, enjoy the episode! Rate, review, download, etc and we'll see you next week.

  • Episode 44: Kumar! Alvarez! Future! Future!

Kumar Rocker is a New York Met and frankly nothing else matters. The Mets got a guy they didn't think would fall to them at 10 in the draft. They're thrilled. We're thrilled. We talked about it.

Francisco Alvarez hit a laserbeam homer in the Futures Game that has us feeling some things. We talked about it.

The Home Run Derby is tonight. We broke it down round by round and came to the logical conclusion that, hey, this is gonna be really fun.

It's too bad the Mets had to go and lose a stinker to the Pirates on Sunday. If not for that, vibes would be miraculously high. Sadly, we do have to talk about the bad stuff too.

We also gave out some first-half superlatives and gave grades to some Mets hitters.

Then, of course, we remembered some guys! Be sure to follow us on Twitter @thePGEpod and check out Jack's guest appearance from this week on the Cohen's Corner podcast. Enjoy the episode and enjoy the All-Star festivities, Mets fans!

  • Episode 43: Start Spreading The News (That the Mets are Good)

The Mets are good. Many people are saying it. You're hearing it more and more. The Yankees....not so great...and that makes us happy.

In keeping with July 4th traditions, the Mets lit some fireworks against Gerrit Cole and Aroldis Chapman and took a series from the Yankees. After dropping three of four in Washington and Atlanta to start the week, it was very much needed. We recap the week and revel in laughing at our cross-town rivals.

We also look ahead. Three against a hot Brewers club and four against a very bad Pirates club lead into the All-Star break. The pitching is in bad shape without David Peterson, but we think they can survive until the break.

We also took our first real look at the trade market and pondered the age old baseball question: which of these good baseball dudes do we want on our team on August 1st.

Then, we talked about Trevor Bauer. We'll leave it at that.

We finished the episode by remembering some guys, as always. If you're new here, be sure to rate, review, and share. Your engagement means a lot to us. Enjoy the episode and enjoy the last week of the first half, Mets fans!

  • Episode 42: We've Reached the Jackie Robinson Number

What's up Mets fans! Another Monday means another new PGE!

This week, we're breaking down our thoughts and feelings after the Mets split eight games with the Braves and Phillies. We wished they won more games because it was a good chance to create some distance in the division, but hey - walk-off wins are cool at least!

The pitching staff is being held together with thread right now, but we've been fairly impressed with the newcomers!

Jacob deGrom was fairly pedestrian (by his standards) on Saturday. Are we worried? Do we even want him to pitch in the All-Star Game?

Speaking of the All-Star Game, those ASG jerseys are awful. But black Mets jerseys are the way!

We've also got lots of injury updates! And then, of course, we remember some guys!

Enjoy the episode, Mets fans! We'll see you next week.

  • Episode 41: Literally Erick Fedde

What an odd week, Mets fans.

The Mets started by taking three straight from the Cubs, but ended the week losing four of five, including three of four to the Nationals. No more Kyle Schwarber, ever again please.

This week is key for the Mets: eight games against the Braves and Phillies at home including doubleheaders against each. The Mets have a chance to create some distance. Jacob deGrom is good to go. Jeff McNeil is back. Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo are right behind him.

Oh, and no, Kevin Pillar and Billy McKinney should not keep their starting spots when those guys come back. Poo-poo take. We talked about some Mets' fans weird obsession with proven major leaguers needing to earn back their spot just because their replacements haven't sucked.

We also had as detailed a Guy Remembering as we've ever had. Listen to the end to see who we remembered.

Be sure to check out our appearance on the Real Mets Legends podcast from last week and give them a follow @MetsLegends on Twitter.

Rate, review download, etc PGE to help us out. We've got Twitter content coming soon so follow us @thePGEpod. See you next week, Mets fans! Enjoy the episode!

  • Episode 40: *Taps the 'Jacob Barnes Stinks' sign*

The Mets took two of three from the Padres to win the season series, and yet it doesn't really feel that way. A winnable game got away from Luis Rojas and the Mets on Sunday while looking for a sweep. Rojas mismanaged his taxed bullpen and went to his worst arm in a tied game with the bases loaded and Fernando Tatis batting. It went about as poorly as you might expect. It's the big storyline of the week, and we break it down.

David Peterson starts tonight against the Cubs looking to rebound after back-to-back awful outings in Arizona and Baltimore. After a brutal loss on Sunday, the Mets need Dave Pete to play stopper and turn his skid around.

But it's not all negatives for the Mets. James McCann is Good now. Francisco Lindor looks like himself. Pete Alonso is back to hitting nukes. Jacob deGrom, despite his injury concerns, is still superhuman. Listen to us break it all down, from the good to the bad to the ugly. And of course, as always, we remember some guys to close it out.

Be sure to rate, review, download, subscribe, share - however you want to engage with the podcast makes us happy. Enjoy the episode and we'll see you next week, Mets fans!

  • Episode 39: Robinson Cancel Culture

Happy Monday Mets fans. We've got another Pleasant Good Evening masterclass coming your way!

This week, we talked about the Mets road trip out west to Phoenix and San Diego. The Mets went 4-3 across the two stops, taking two of three from the Snakes and splitting four games with the Friars. We're happy with how they played, especially hanging tough with a very good team of Dads in SoCal.

We're very happy that Francisco Lindor, James McCann, and Dominic Smith have all started hitting. We talked about that in detail.

We also discussed some arms on the pitching staff that are either struggling or pitching well, and we try to decipher if we can trust these slumps or hot streaks.

Oh, also, Jacob deGrom is silly. He had a goofy week. There are no more words to describe him, but we tried anyway with a list of ridiculous statistics.

Give us a listen, a rating, a review, and share us with a friend, family member, significant other, or pet if you're feeling generous. Enjoy the episode, Mets fans! See you next week.

  • Episode 38: The Mets Swept The Braves, IMO

We can call one game a sweep, right?

Well, the Mets were supposed to play more baseball this week, but three rainouts cut into the week's schedule. Regardless, they took three of four from the Rockies and demolished the Braves in the lone weekend game to end the homestand on a nice four-game win streak. They've got the D-Backs and Padres on the road this week, and it looks like some reinforcements are on the way.

Pete Alonso, Seth Lugo, and Kevin Pillar will return on the road trip. J.D. Davis, Luis Guillorme, and Albert Almora might only be about a week away. Despite the bad injury news about Noah Syndergaard, there's lots of good news for the Mets. We talk about it.

We also talk about how good the bullpen has been - and in doing so, Sam rights a wrong and admits he had a Bad Take during the late offseason.

Sam also went to a game at Citi Field this week! It was the PGE crew's first game back at the ballpark since it reopened. He gives his thoughts on being back home.

Also, Marcell Ozuna is a piece of trash who should never play baseball again. We give our thoughts about him.

And, of course, we remember some guys. This week, Sam tried to step it up after utterly failing in his guy remembering last week.

Enjoy the episode, Mets fans! Be sure to rate it, leave a review, and tell a fellow Mets fan about us. We'll see you next week!

  • Episode 37: Pleasant Good Injured List

Pleasant Good Evening has been activated from the 10-day IL (final exams)

We took a week off to focus on finishing school, but we are BACK! The Mets on the other hand...they need some more time. Everyone is hurt and the active team looks a little more like the Syracuse Mets. But they're staying afloat, so that's all we can really ask...for now.

Beyond the Mets, their injuries, and their injury replacements, we also talk about the White Sox and Tony La Russa. We're upset about that. Tune in and listen.

Enjoy the episode and be on the lookout for more new content now that the summer is here for us college kids. Follow us on Twitter @thePGEpod and be sure to leave a rating and a review. See you next week, Mets fans!
